I’ll be entering the 1/350 USS Gettysburg in the full build contest.
Going to add some PE to it, do the rigging, and “scratch build” a display stand.

Hey Jacob,

That's cool you're doing the Gettysburg. A good friend of mine was in ops on the Gettysburg, so it's nice to see her getting some recognition. I don't know how I missed that Italeri had a kit of her in 1/350, so your post made my day doubly! Now I gotta get one of those kits myself!

Yes Bruce, as per contest rule, all items for your specific build should be bought/begged/borrowed by June 1st, mate, for the initial BLOG photo, or some type of proof of purchase provided to be fair to all other entrants...

EDIT:
On second thought (thanks Jacob ), paints should be lumped in with "building supplies" (glue, etc.), and will not be necessary for the initial photo shoot.........

I may be wrong but was under the impression you guy had decided before that paint was considered “building supplies” like glue and didn’t count for the photo and such.

If thats not the case I hope I don't run out.

Naw, Jacob, you're right mate (I edited my first answer, thanks! ), I just had a mental breakdown there for a quick second..."building supplies" do NOT have to available for your first photo shoot (but if ya have 'em, put 'em in!).............

C'mon guys!

The enlisting period is almost over and I must say that I am intrigued for "just" having 13 enlisted so far!
Although this is a Contest, it's also FUN to build a model and see others progress and updates, and you will have the chance to learn something too!

So, why don't you join in?

You kind of freaked me out with this, Peter!!!
I know you like BIG ships, but I thought they were meant for Cruising, not staying on the mantle

Have to echo Rui's comments - I wasn't even thinking about the 'contest' aspect of this event when I entered. This will be my first surface ship model in about 50 years (I think I built the Revell Arizona when it was almost 'new') and I joined just to be part of the group and learn from what everyone else does. My Buchanan (to be converted to Ellyson) arrived over the weekend and the next four days are going to go by very slowly!

Hi Barry

Thanks for your input! I still think that the most interesting part of events like these is to Learn and also to have Fun!
I understand your point, and I think that it would be interesting to see more members with your attitude!
Bravo Zulu Barry

Rui

PS: As a funny note: If I would only enter contests when I thought I was good enough to win something.... I would probably never enter one - I think that from model to model, I am always learning something and improving my skills (at least I think so!!!!)

Really looking forward to this one~!

I re-posted the announcement in the FSM SHIPS Forum, see if we can get couple more builders in here.... I dont have a "local" LHS or IPMS chapter, so I cant really spread the word too far

PS I am glad we dont have to post the paints, I still need to get couple more but Im waiting for the June Squadron catalog, you know, have to buy enough to get free shipping
Cheers
