Gunny, is it ok to post a link to MSW/KitMaker in other (non KitM) forums, as long as the other web sites/forums allow for such postings? Cheers, James

James Martiney - name, JMartine - call sign (so original! LOL), OOB - category
Kit - USS Kidd DDG-993 (lead ship), 1:350, Dragon #1014
Will build OOB (obviously) but one of the sisters ships, not the Kidd itself. Still doing some research as to which one Cheers

James, as long as the other sites allow such posts (which most do), you sure can post a link back to the contest page, mate...the more folks we get involved, the more builds that we'll have to watch grow into fantastic ship subjects!

..and welcome to all the new Shipwrights...

Gunny, do we post in this thread our musings about our build planning (pre-start date), or we start a separate thread? Directions say to start a blog entry at the beginning of the build...

I also had a question about the OOB category ( I know, yet another one!). Are any extra "building materials" allowed, such as styrene, wire, foil? I was reading online the IPMS OOB rules, my they are extensive! They even go into what materials can be used for antennas (stretched sprue ok, but not "bought" wire). I just dont want to add something to the build that will break the rules, newbie that I am...should be post a question before adding any extra (nonAM) materials?
Thanks, sorry all the nitpicking questions, I just dont want to make a goofy mistake Cheers

Hi James

OOB means that you have to build the model with what you have in the box, with the exception of paint and glue
That's why the rigging (for example) must be made with streched sprue - that you get with your model.
You also need to follow the instructions, and make no extra improvements (other than removing seam lines, sink holes, etc)
Any other parts added even if scratchbuild and you will fall into the other category.

Hope this helps,
Rui

James, this is just the sign-up thread, mate...I'm trying to keep the "musings" (great term, bro) to a bare minimum...feel free to roll with a seperate thread though...but please adhere to the blog thread to document your build as per contest rules, my friend

Okay, talking about those Lion Roar sets in other topics has pretty much made up my mind...

Name: Dade W. Bell
Callsign: Karybdis
Build: IJN Hiryu
Company: Aoshima
Type of build: Full Build

This will have all that wacky Lion Roar after market stuff (PE deck, etc.). This is subject to change after Modelpalooza next weekend (I may find some crazy model there that inspires me), but it's basically a lock.
