A small update so far this month,Have now finnished the main correction of the poor fitting bow area.So after all the filling and sanding I washed the hull to get it as clean as possible and began to prime the lower hull to check for any more smaller imperfections.

I,ve found a couple of small gaps in a couple of areas and will correct this week, will also carry on with the build up of the superstrcture. Gent,s a question of choice do most of you fit and glue your sub assembleys before painting or do you think it is best left off to paint the flight deck.

Hi Keith

Time to wash up your ship
As to your question, I would like to suggest painting subassemblies (hull + superstructures) and work them separately... when ready, glue them together and give the final touches.
Hope this helps,

Follwoing a good general rule "Handle painted parts a little as possible!", I'd glue first. Then close the gaps with white glue. Then paint the decks and mask them off. Then paint the verticals.
I did try subassembly paiting first, but you'll never know how big or small the gaps in the fusion line between deck and vertical structure will be. Sometimes they are pretty big (See my Sovremenny)
...but that just how I do it.

Cheers,
Guido

So it,s either OR kind of thing depending on modellers choice. I think for this model I,ll go with the Skipper on this, have now almost done the main superstrucher apart from the smaller details. This is the dry fit to the hull and primed, have found a couple of scratches on the deck from removing the raised deck lines but will correct and now move on to getting the aircraft ready.

Sorry about the poor pics but think I have it now.Any way have found gaps in the build of the superstucture and will correct ASAP also a pic of the jump ramp after all the filling and sanding work. Still some to do but nearly ready for the first coat of paint

the gaps are at rear and base of the front funnel and also on the join line at the very rear of the superstructure.

and still a small join line showing on the side of the ramp.

Hey mate, looking good there!

I also "solved" my pics problems by using Photobucket for the WIPs and pasting the IMG link, and then using my space in here for the final product. cheers!

here is a start to this months WIP first I have done the Air Arm Harriers and Seaking .Although you might not can tell the Harriers are two tone Light gray for the under side and dark gray for the Top side

I have done the cockpit canopys and windsheild on the air craft by using an artists fine line pen to give me the blue tinted tinge to the glass. Next step will be to seal the paint and add the decals.Next step for the flight deck is to mask the runway stripe and paint the deck a faded dark gray.

Well things have gone a lot better this month so far with the build only little bits done but geting there.Mark and Kenny thanks again for sorting out the images last month for me

Good progress, Keith, and as I said originally it's good to see this kit disected as it looks great in the box but as you have found, always needs some adjustment to make it fulfill your envisaged final appearance.

keep it going, I'm enjoying your journey.

Great work, Keith and I agree with Peter. It's good to see this kit actually being built as first impressions in the box were one thing... You're doing wonderful work.
