Will try and not to be so impatient with the next updates.

Looking good Keith, paint looks nicely applied...
yeah, when you paste the pic link, you are pasting on top of the
as in:
[img] [http://gallery.kitmaker.net/data/22114/Picture_150.jpg /img]
now it is easier to see that the last tag is missing the first bracket... it ended up at the beginning of the "http" part...
Fixed:

Another bit done this month more tape and tears will have to get my eyes checked out for working in this scale more used to 1/35 and 1/72 not 1/700
Taped off flightdeck for the white lines
did think of using a white pencil or marker but went for the paint option as these did not look right will have to touch in on some of the thicker lines and dull down with a wash later
And a Merry Xmas to all

so the last update of 2008 have painted and installed propeller blades
painted them by hand on cocktail sticks using some polyestyrene the superglued on to shafts my close up photos are not that good will have to practice a bit more on that.
also had to touch up some overspray on the waterline
All the best to everyone at MSW time to party

Hey Keith!
nice work as usual, the masking/lines came out very nicely.
As for close up pics, I had the same problem; I then switched to a more "overhead" angle when taking close-ups, the camera then focuses on the closest object and not the distant background. I am not an expert, but worked for me!
Cheers and happy new year!

Hi Keith,
I agree with you that decals really can't match the painted on look of real paint! Flight deck looks good to me. Nice job on the base too - its going to look great with the model in place.

Well although most of you thought that the flight deck lines where ok on closer inspection by the missus she said that they looked like
in other words thick thin and all over the place so to keep the peace I,ve re-done the lines in a different manner.Taking some instruction from Nannod using two blades taped together have cut some tape into thin stips and used this method.
Re-masck the black flight path and respray the lines as fine as the airbrush will allow
When the white is dry place the thin stips of tape over the area needing the lines in place
After all the tape is in place re-spray the deck grey in various shades and leave to dry for 10 minutes. Then remove the tape strips this sometime removes some of the white paint but this is the effect I,m looking for a worn runway and I think this looks a lot better than before and so does the Missus and she is always right

Good decision, Keith!
...and an enlightening moment, when you learn one of these true-to-the-core rules of modelling such as
"Always use the right tool for the job at hand" or "treat each part as a model and you will have a satisfactory result in the end"
and of cause far up in the list: "The missus is always right!"
Cheers, Guido

A little more progress have done the bridge windows with the same technique as the Harrier cockpits using a fineline art pen
added the superstructure to the deck and have giving it a coat of johnsons clear(future)
And have also go some of the smaller parts picked out by brush painting
and now it,s time to start on some of the smaller fittings to go on such as boats and davids
will wash and prime these parts before I start on the detail painting

a good decision to redo the lines, Keith, otherwise like me and my railings, you would have regretted it all later. And, that's really coming together nicely now, four more months should see you there.

I,ve came a cropper this month after getting all of the Smaller parts fitted and painted and things going so far so good DISASTER??
When on the final straight so to speak started to add the flight deck decals 1.2.3. NOOO. The decals or at least some of them the name for the base and some of the runway markings have split while removing from the backing paper. I have tried masking and hand painting some ,but I,am not to happy with the results. So I,ve added the airarm to the deck and fixed the ship to base and this is it so far. [

Unless I can do a decent job on hand painting the rest of the markings this will be the last post of this build as I do not think I can take it any further and do it any justice

Well done Dade!
I hope you have a chance to create proper deck markings where missing.
Guido
PS.: Any chance you want to do try some dry brushing to give the surface structures a bit more emphasis?

Keith - which markings are missing? Any chance of digging some up from spares? I'm sure several of us have extra decal stuff lying around we'd be happy to send you. Build looks so good it would be a shame not to put on the finishing touch. Barry

Guido wish I was Dade my ship building talents would be a LOT better
Barry thanks for the offer but then it would not be out of the kit box and them Judges get every where to find things out
If I can sort out the markings,I,am trying on a scrap kit some fine line markers but the trick is getting the right size for 1/700.Once this problem is solved ??
I will then give the kit a light wash with some Valleo smoke and dry brush with some light sky grey if all goes well on the markings
