Ahoy
My thoughts and prayers are with those in the south in the potential path of Hurricane Gustav and in particular all our members living in the region.
Special mention to Kenny (aka Gator) and his family.
Your friends in the South Pacific have you in their thoughts.
Cheers
Sean

Thank you guys. Everything to the eastern side of the hurricane's eye is getting hammered pretty good. We have seen some rain and a steady north wind. if you would like to follow the track, you can use this website.

Glad to hear everything still good Kenny. Been watching the news and it looks like a lot of people have been losing power.
Mark you sure that’s a good idea? With the seasons changing those southerners might get too cold up here.
Keep dry and stay safe.

The storm is weakening and moving a a pretty good clip. If it continues at this speed, it will all be over by midnight.
Jacob, there is no such thing as too cold. I wear shorts and a jacket in the winter.

You said you were going to your parents right? Is that still out around the Lake Charles area?
They got a reporter out that way. Looks rough.
Keep dry Kenny.

Hey Jacob. We were going to my parents house here in town (Sulphur - 15 miles west of Lake Charles). Renee has had headaches all day from the fluctuating barometric pressure, so we stayed at home. Renee's brother and his two boys and her mom spent the night last night and her mom will spend the night tonight. We've got a heavy rain band going through right now, but the weather will be tapering off through the night.

Hang in there Kenny!
You're almost through the Gustav...
Keep yourself inside and keep those portholes and hatches closed!

Good to hear that the worst may be over !!
The local S & R team that headed down to New Orleans after Katrina hit spent the past few days getting prepared to fly out in case they were needed again.
Take care !!

It is always nice when those big old storms wear themselves out before the hit land. Now just Hanna, Ike, and then Josephine. So things are looking up!

Ah look at it this way, they have to breeze through my neck of the woods (Florida) first.

Well, Grand Isle, Houma and Morgan City got hammered. Morgan City is without power, water, sewer and a medical facility. The generator at Teche Regional Hospital in Morgan City was compromised, so they are with out power. It amazes me how Gustav can leave a big swath of destruction through south central LA and all the media can focus on is New Orleans and the wind blowing a little water over the levee. Geez. It's like the rest of south Louisiana doesn't exist. Nobody will say that New Orleans survived Katrina just fine and people were returning home when the man made disaster happened.
Sorry for the rant guys. It's just that this is the same thing we faced when Rita hit us. Our elected officials dubbed it "Rita Amnesia."

Sounds like what happens to Western Kansas. The state seems to end at Salina. Except during tax season then we magically reappear.
Sorry to hear this is happening.

Up here in the big D we got a small taste of Gustuv. Heavy winds and tons of menacing clouds. It never did rain, but we had a nce 2 day cool down. Now Ike is coming in and this one may not be so nice.

I hear ya. My stomach is in knots right now. The cool fronts coming down could blow this thing right into our laps like Hurricane Rita.
Crap. I hate hurricane season.
