I have to say, it looks great!

Just one question: how do you avoid warpage/softening of the cardboard (it is cardboard, isn't it?) when painting the ship?

well i double the cardboard before i paint. i use acryl paints on the hull with a hand held hairdyer. lay on a coat of paint then heat the paint until it bakes into the paper. you be surprise after 3 coats the hull looks like plastic.

i have really enjoyed watching this one grow. I know I am in the minority, but i would love to see a 350 scale Midway, Forrestal, and Kitty Hawk classes in plastic.

Yeah, i would too. but i think the cost of doing it wouldn't be great for a company.

Hey Mardis!

You're capturing all the complex detail, all right! If you look at the last photo you posted of the Midway with the tug underneath the flight deck overhang, you'll see a ladder-like projection extending down from the overhang. It's located near the forward end of the flight deck edge.

that little diving board piece i'll get to it latter. right now the starboardside needs to be done. after the starboard side is finished i'll trim everything around the hull. Thanks for looking out for me.

finishing the flightdeck tonight and starbard side. the island is a bit tricky. trying some new things on it.

nothing is glue down. island portside is 70% done. should be done with the whole by the end of the month.

o.k done with the basic hull,flightdeck,island of the Midway. the new owner will be adding what he wants on her. hopefully he will post the finish model when he is done. have to do some little things before being ship. photos of the build.
