Will be weathering the Boat Deck next. Have added Retaining Straps to one side of each of the Boat Cradle sites on the Deck. I am going to alter the Build sequence by adding the Ship's Boats next. This will enable me to attach the Retaining straps properly before attaching the Boat Deck. This will make this this operation easier now than trying to do it with Deck in place. More to come soon...Cheers Mark

Good thought re the boat tie downs Mark.

I am tackling that somewhat differently, the intention being to get the funnels & their casings installed and rigged with the boat deck still clear, so I have room to manouver the stays into place without the risk of knocking boats / guns etc off.

Have fun

That's also a good way of doing it too Simon. I decided on this Method as Most the Ship's Boats cradles and Tie Down spots are on the Wood covered area of the Boat Deck well away from the Funnel Locations. But then again, whatever scenario is used and works for each modeller is the main thing...Cheers Mark

I have'nt been able to do much lately thanks to a 4 letter Word called W.O.R.K. I have just started adding the Shio's Boats to her Boatdeck. I have not glued the Deck Down as yet as it makes it easier to attach the Retaining Straps. More to come soon...Cheers Mark

The Funnels are finished and on. Some railing add on the around the deck below the W/T office and the next deck on the bridge (some funnel rigging connests to that level) and then the bracing wires for the funnles go on.

The interior of the funnels need a bit more black wash running into them. (They are not 100% accurate, my first attempt at funnel detailing, but I think much better than the solid funnel caps as supplied.)

That is a very nice looking build of the Hood you have going there Mark. Nice clean lines and a very "British" look to her. The PE adds to the entire effect. The mesh over the intakes in the funnel housing: was that molded or PE ?
One small niggle: check the alignment of your main battery barrels. I had the same problem after replacing the barrels on the Tirpitz, getting them to look right.
Cheers,
Julian

Thanks Julian. I noticed that too. I am thinking about removing them and doing a little bit of sanding to get them right and refitting them.....Cheers Mark

Looking very good Mark ! How did you manage the rivet holes on the turrets? Drilled by hand or "Rosie the riveter"? The effect is good !
cheers,
Julian

Finally managed to make a small amount of progress, the next level of the superstructure has been preped. This will be added before it is built up any more, as some of the stays from the fwd funnel attach to it, & like a bit of room to manouver.
