Excellent news, really looking forward to this one.

Haven't made my mind up on the build yet, too many intersting subjects, but leaning towards something along the corvette / Sloop lines, but too many ideas in my head & Telford 2 months away.

Rules state that the kit should be no more than 25% complete.. maybe i can move my started Charles F Adams )Guided Missile Destroyer DDG-2 )in here? It is the Dragon premium edition, 1:700. I started it for the old Tin Cans group buil, this is as far as i got:

Assembled one radar mast:

Assembled some superstructure:

Added PE anchor chains:

Added some PE to the 5" guns:

No painting, weathering or other construction... is that too much?

I already have the Kidd as my Dry Dock entry
Cheers

PS:: would you be willing to part with the German and Greek Parts and Decals, I have the regular CFA, and am looking for those pieces, I can pay or trade, I ahve a 1/700 Skywave Krivak Class Russian FFG twin Pack i wont get to. but anyway, looks awsome and what PE are you using??

Hi Bob,

Welcome, and good luck with your 1st group build.

Back from Telford with loads of Goodies, Including my offering this one, Picked up HMS Kittywake 1/350th from WEM a Kingfisher class coastal corvette. I am building her as HMS Mallard circa early 1945, at which point the the single 20mm on the platforms aside the after superstructure had been moved down to the quarterdeck & replaced with single MkIII bofors and a substanial splinter sheild added to the 4" gun fwd.

Will post some picks hopefully at the weekend

I know we haven't officialy started yet, but no willpower on this one.

Have just started painted the decks, with the corcetene walkways is a bit of fun, as with all the projections cast into the deck masking is tricky.

Absolutely lovely kit though, top marks to WEM for producing such an oddity.

Gunny,

Just checking in on the progress of the GB. I was afraid I'd been left in the dust, but it looks like nobody is posting much progress. My modeling has been pretty well non-existent for the last 3+ weeks due to a broken left wrist.
Had surgery to pin and plate the break last Friday and I hope to be back at the bench in a week or 10 days able to use both hands. In the mean time I'm going to try to start getting back in the groove by getting all my remaining priming on Laffey done and organizing some pics of the limited progress I had made prior to the accident then figuring out how to post them. So, maybe we can breath some life into what should be a great GB.

This will be my first ship campaign. After the great review from Jim Adams I think I'll build the Cyber Hobby USS Virginia CGN 38 (1/700) and hopefully finish before I get my eye on something else. Luckily I can build 1/700 scale ships faster than my wallet can catch up.

Here's my USS Copeland FFG 25. It's built from the old PitRoad kit. I'm hoping to have this one done by the end of the month for our club's 25th Anniversary Model Contest. Here's my work today on the USS Copeland. After building all the photo etch pieces for the radar, I dropped the arm that holds the radar array. Renee and I looked for 10 minutes for the part. Renee found it after I stepped on it. I modified the kit part to hold the array. I think it looks pretty good for what it is.

Good Start Jim, interesting and unusual subject as well.

Looking good Kenny, like the etched latice masts, adds some real finesse to that old lady.

No notable progress on Mallard this weekend, but will get some more done soon

Kenny-
Great progress!
Next time you drop a part, retreat from the area carefully and return with a vacuum cleaner. Take an old pantyhose (Renee's of cause ) and put it over the tube of the vacuum cleaner and sweep the area carefully. You'll probably find tons of stuff.
Cheers,
Guido
