Thanks guys.
Once you live in a warm place for a few years ANYTHING under 20 degrees C seems cold. And, fundly enough, it never gets much above 32 degrees C even in the middle of summer.

Now if someone could just turn the heaters back on..

You will all be pleased to know that my replacement deck piece arrived today. I only sent the sample off a week or so ago and the new one is here already!
Excellent service from PONTOS as I have always found.
Will be going on in a few minutes..
Cheers all

I know it was cold. I had to go to Ipswich last Tuesday. 3c at 8-00 AM. RAAF Base Amberly regularly goes below Zero and that is only 45KM's from Brisbane.

Greetings from chilly wet Brisbane (it isn't supposed to be chilly..).
I got the wooden deck pieces attached with very little problem, I just had to cut the laser cuts yet again as they didn't seem to go all the way through the wood. A common problem.
As a test I just applied the wooden deck to bare plastic using a little water as they suggest and it went on very well.
I then started applying the masks supplied for the deck markings and found they had the same problem as the deck, the die-cutters did not cut very well and I have to go through and recut all the markings out of the supplied sheets. I learned this after I applied the first mask so I am cutting them out in-situ and the rest I will cut before I apply them.. 20/20 hindsight...
Cheers all

Very neat work on the mainmast Warren, especially with such a complex looking structure.

You want the good news or the bad news? OK.. good news first, I have made a bit more progress..
Lots and lots of masking for lots of little white dashes on the deck.

Wouldn't it be nice if they printed them there for you?
Et voila!! Said white lines. The other light parts or just the natural plastic deck showing through where I have removed the wooden pieces to install the various deck bits like arrestor wire thingies etc.
And finally for now..

The deck-edge elevator is fixed in place.
Now after all that good news, I am unemployed yet again... So modelling output will rise but model purchasing will cease. Be nice to get a long term job..

Hang in there and just keep pushing forward with everything, and send some of that cooler weather my way if you don't mind. We didn't even have a winter this past year

Thanks Jeremy.
It is still 17C so it is not that cold really.
I am slowly working my way along the flight deck installing all the PE pieces that make up the various deck edges, hatches and arrester gear.
Some photos tomorrow.
Cheers

Well I am calling the ship part of this build finished. The aircraft can wait a while.. So without any further ado I present the USS Ticonderoga in her 1944/5 Measure as interpreted by me..

As usual it looks like I still have a bit of touching up to do. I can never seem to catch all the bloopers but the macro in my camera can!

These are all warts and all photos amd seeing as I will probably be the only other person in the world to see the model in person I can live with some of the problems.

One near disaster I had forgotten to put the catwalk on the hull that ran around the base of the island. I had attached the island so I had to carefully cut away the plastic catwalk and install the PE one. Had a bot of touching up to do later due to a few slips with the knife..

Anyway, that is enough of things that float and can produce big bangs, it is over to the titanic stuff up that was the RMS Titanic for about 1/3rd of a voyage.

Cheers all
