It would appear that I am the first to post anything. This post is dedicated to the Griffon PE set I will be using, Basic Detail Upgrade Set, as opposed to Julian's advanced one. One thing I noticed is that the sheets are many different thicknesses and the box and contents weighs quite a bit.
First up the numerous instruction sheets starting with the overview sheet..

Then we have the first of the instruction sheets. Nice and clear as you can see..







Next we have the upgrade set for the Bridge..



Please note I missed Page 2/4... (Idiot!)
Next we have the Wheelhouse upgrade..


Then we have the Depth Charge Chute and Ground Mine Chute upgrade..


Lastly I scanned the contents of the package..






And all that cost under $80 including postage.
Next post from me may be the contents of the kit unless Mr Sallows beats me. Why do I think these other two are going to show me up big time?

I knew there are lots of parts, thanks for setting out everything so clearly. Crikey there's almost as many brass parts if not more here than plastic ones in the kit and only $US80 posted you say?

The question I have --- "where do ya get it?" I tried a coupla weeks ago to susc out who is stocking the whole shebang but then no-one was, could be different now of course.

I got mine from Hobby-Space, but I think he sold out..

I think he did sell all his available stock Warren, understandable though, it was steal at that price.
Might as well let anyone looking here see what my game plan is going to be to detail up the Italeri 1/35 Vosper:
I must have a 20mm Oerlikon on the Vosper, no way I will accept this build without one:





There is also a very nice dinghy in the Italeri add-on set, might use that too:


I have a nice metal barrel for the Oerlikon and some lovely resin Lewis guns with the fat cooling jackets, just must use them:






I will be using the Griffon PE set to add some more detailing:

I ran into this photo/drawing online and I love the colours and the way this Vosper looks. I hope the owner of this photo doesn't mind me posting it here.

Of course this all means I have a long way to go yet, but with Daniel and Warren as co-bloggers it should be fun

In my case, Im the manager of throwing apeak these furious "Bosper". Not easy at all for my!!!! With already will see my crew it is of the best but being in land they happen more in the jail and in the Brothel that doing tasks of maintenance in his unit!!!

Oh no! The pressure! There are two good builders here and there is me..

No pressure, mate. Just an internet full of super-critical armchair nit-pickers waiting to pounce like a pack of demented dingoes on a wounded wallaby, nothing to fret about. Al

LET THE NIT-PICKING BEGIN!!!

But first of all a few more preliminary photos..
Here are the Instruction booklet and a booklet of photos of the MTBs, including a restored one with no rudders etc (??)

The instructions are not line drawings but shaded drawings..

Then when you open the box the first thing you get is the huge hull moulding. and my size 19 for scale..

And here is the sheet of PE that came with the kit..

And finally I decided to clean up my bench before I started construction of the boat..

The first order of business of the construction proper was to clean up the hull, and surprisingly I only found this little problem..
Which was quickly cleaned up..

The Italians are so generous they even give you free ejector pin marks on some parts!!

Next up was the strakes down the hull that keep spray away from the deck..

At one stage I dropped one of them after removing it from the sprue. After attaching them to one side I did the front one on the other side and then the back one but found that it was about 3 inches short.. what the!?!?

Then I happened to look on the floor and found a part had come off the part.. bast%^d!!

I attached the strake and found it left a bit of a gap where it originally tapered..

I have since fixed it but this really is a bit of over-engineering by Italeri as the strakes could easily have been moulded in place.
Next up we move to the stern and the PE cavitation plates. These help stop the boat porpoising in the water at speed..

And here we have the rudders etc in position ..

And then the stern glued in place..

I taped the stand to the hull so the rudders may survive a bit longer..

Next it was the PE portholes that came with the Griffon set. They have much more detail than the ones in the Italero PE set..

There are six each side..

And that's it for now.

What the heck is going on here in the peaceful English Channel?
I come back from work and Daniel is laying mines in case Warren or I ever manage to get a model Vosper together and Warren's crew are OD'ing on Red Bull and have nearly finished his build on the first day
Guess I will have to freeze building on the Big "B" and get to work on "my precious" ASAP........................

P.s. How the heck can you build a model on a clean workspace Warren? No one builds on a clear workspace, (well, I don't at least). It is so clean......................Clean ....Argh!

I can't stand the taste of Red Bull, Julian.. I am a V man myself but haven't had a can for over 12 months now.
Don't freeze the Big B, finish that masterpiece first. If I finish my kit early I have a few others I can do to keep the thread ticking over. The title sort of opens it up alot, I have a 1/350 Dragon DKM Scharnhorst in the stash awaiting construction and a few 1/350 WEM MTBs.
Relax mate, the mines won't affect us as they are magnetic mines and we have wooden hulls...

1/35th scale opening hatches.. therein lies the path to madness..
So I made the hatch up but it is not operable..
But first up I made some replacement poles with hooks on the end.. forgotten what they call them..
Here are the items being replaced..

And here we have the new 1.5mm round stock poles with the kit hooks attached.

Then you make up the holders. Notice the wingnuts..

And this is what the assemblies look like..

And then the madness began..
First up was the assmbly that holds one side of the hinge..

The a brass insert was added inside the hatch..

Then I made the hatch itself and put it in place to make sure it fitted..

Which it did quite well. All the hatches are different sizes as well..
Then I started on the hinges..

You need to roll the ends of the hinges to make the loops to take the pivot brass wire..
Here is one of them together..

And here is the hatch with the hinges and the handle attached. At this stage it was operable, but after I got excited about it I opened it once too often and the hinges decided to part company with the mounting plate..

So now it is not operable which is OK as I would have to build all the detail under the hatch if it was operable, and that ain't gonna happen!!
SO that;s it for now. Just three more hatches to go.. and I am onto the second page of PE instructions.. with about 18 to go..

I'm going to watch this build with interest.

In a lot of photos of the foredeck, the hatch to the berthing spaces is open at a ninety degree angle to the deck. When I built my Vosper I modeled the hatch open and vertical. My question is, does anyone know what held it upright in that position? Al

Very good and prolix advance!! These instructions are killing!! To fight with Italeri instructions and Lions R. .... uf is not easy
