I have more detail work on the hangar bay. Just enough to see thru the openings. It will not be total complete with lighting and what ever else. Post photos this Sunday.

I'm not doing a full hangar bay. Just enough to see through the openings.

Just put in the hangar deck. Starboard side has not much detail because of the port side aft opening. Waiting on the older sponsons for the missile launchers from Greg of Shapeways.

My round sponsons should be here next Sat. In the mean time I've work on the port side detailing the openings and redoing the small sponsons under the large over hang sponsons. I'll post the work tomorrow.

When I was in the Navy, I was on the Chicago (CG-11) in the mid-late '70's. The Connie and the Kitty (along with the Long Beach and sometimes the Enterprise) were moored at North Island in San Diego. When we deployed overseas we went with the Kitty Hawk task force. Where ever she went we followed. Make them look good modeler

I served on the Connie from 1976 to 1979. What year does your model represent?

Nam era. Between 1970-1973.

Greg from Shapeways has done a great job.I guess this mean I won't scratch build too many things now. Just a little work needs to be done to the sponsons.

I worked on a thing called FMSRT/SMQ-10. It tracked an Air Force weather satellite using 2 antenna's on the edge of the of the flight deck. One port and 1 starboard. I am curious to see if it is included with this model.

No it is not. The model is when she was in service 1990-2000.

I got a look at the model and did some research and it is my bad.
The model has the SMQ-11 which is different. If you have any pictures of the Connie from up to 1980 look at the edge of the flight about midships on the port and starboard sides for a movable antenna. If you want to make it real put a 28 foot trailer on the hanger bay on the starboard sit just aft of the hanger bay doors. It took up 1 plane spot which pissed off the hanger bay chief to no end.

back dating going well.

Prime the port side. A few mistakes. But all can be corrected. Still the back dating is going great.

portside is done. just small things need to be added. the fantail and starboard side to be work on.

Did some work over the weekend.
