I'm building one of them aero-plane thingies...an SBD. I've broken off the aerial mast more times than I can remember.
And tonight, as I was finishing the build, I came to the last piece, the pitot tube, and dropped it. I don't have a carpet monster, but I do have a cable monster. Gone forever.
Pretty proud of myself though. I used a candle and sprue to make one...and it doesn't look half bad.
I'm sure you'll be able to put things to rights!!!

Reminds me of the whale watching boat that hit the seawall across our pier in San Diego the other day!

Wish I had seen this before. I have had both Cutty Sark and Thermopylae in my stash for many a year. So long the boxes are falling apart! I did however build the old Pedro Nunes from the same series. Basically a white Cutty Sark but rigged as a barque.

Hello there.
Captain Catastrophe I presume?

Looks like you are having lots of fun with this one Ken. I am coming to the end of my Snowberry and just found this blog, which is good as I have a Cutty Sark in the stash and figure it would be good for practicing rigging BEFORE I submit myself to the Heller Victory build..

I will be following this build closely, except hopefully the disaster parts (hopefully). Keep up the great work. I remember when I was a little younger back in the 1960's our next door neighbour built one of these.
But that is a long time ago and there are lots of much better solutions for things like dead eyes etc available now, but this one I think I will build OOB but take your advice and drill out the eyes and holes before I try and attach or thread them.

Cheers and keep up the great work,
Warren

Hi Ken,
good to see you're working on your Thermopylae again, as well - she's a very nice build!
And how tiny she looks next to your other build on the table...
Cheers,
Jan

Oh boy...after the damage that happened to the bowsprit, you'd still set this model on the back of some overstuffed cushions!?? If I did that, it would be a disaster that would occur in three...two...o
Other than that, things look great. Glad to see progress is being made!
