The paint arrived today so he is headed back to the paint booth tomorrow, weather willing.

HI everyone,

Well I was able to get the Z32 over to the paint shop for the hull. The camouflage pattern was a little tricky and I am pretty sure that both sides are not 100% exact but I think it is pretty close.

I used Lifecolor, Master Models, and Tamiya paint for the three different colors depicted on the hull.

I am going to try and get the upper deck housings into the paint shop tomorrow but not 100% sure that is going to happen.

If it does I will post an update. If not, well this signifies the last step for a couple of months as the RollTide Ship Yard is being restationed forward with the Pacific Fleet located on Oahu.

The transportation folks arrive on Wednesday but I need to pack everything up before they arrive.

That being said, I will be keeping a couple of small kits and rudimentary tools to continue work on the I400. Prior to my actual departure I will mail the mobile shipyard to Oahu so that it is there for my arrival. I may ever spring the cost of shipping the Nagato and working on that while I wait for the main Shipyard to arrive and get established. I will have plenty of time on my hands until my family arrives later in the year.

Thanks for the kind comments. The camouflage needs some touch ups either from the tape pulling off the paint or because of misalignment but all in all I am happy with it.

Thanks for the comments on the I19. It was a fun little build. Definitely took me longer than what it should have but I learned a lot, especially with the aerial antennae, I think I have a solid method for the next one.

the camouflage of your Z 32 looks outstanding, great job. These camo-schemes that look easy on first glance - straight lines, geometric figures - are way harder to accomplish than the 'wave' types, where you can always use some degree of artistic freedom without anybody noticing or proving you wrong. Not so with patterns like yours - or, prominent example, the baltic camouflage for e.g. the Bismarck. That's really tricky, you can spot every mistake.
Once more, well done!

Take your time with the forward-deployment of your shipyard! I know the temptation to accomplish one last step - but...

Thanks for the kind comments. There are some issues with the scheme but I think I can live with them for now. I did get back into the paint shop for some other items and ill post those pictures soon.

At this point though the Mighty Z32 is packaged and prepared for shipment to the new shipyard. Unfortunately that means a break for about two months.

I helped Dragon with the design sheet for that and from memory the paint was CLOSE but NOT exact on the two sides, so you're good to go if it's not 100% the same. Just for what it's worth.

Thanks. I have arrived in the Pacific and am in the process of establishing a limited capability shipyard. Unfortunately the Z32 is with the main shipyard and still in transit.

Hey all,

I know you have been anxiously awaiting my continuation of the Z32 build/Review. I have finally gotten the shipyard established and the dockyard workers are headed back to work.

During the initial unpacking of the shipping containers it was identified that some components of the Z32 where damaged in transit.

No worries though as the workers are conducting an assessment, developing a plan of action, and will begin repair shortly.

So stay tuned to this channel!!!

Thanks for welcoming me back with such enthusiasm. It is great to be back and building again. I know I promised an update so I apologize for the delay. I finally organized all of the broken pieces.



needless to say it was a little daunting trying to figure out where some of the parts went to. Luckily though I figured it out and the parts are back in their original locations.

This weekend will provide a little more of an update as I move past the reconstruction period and move back into the primary build.

Hey all,

Not a whole lot to report. I have been spending time reevaluating my angle of attack for the remainder of this build.

With that, I decided to begin collecting all of the minor detail parts such as the life rafts, hose reels, and other ancillary parts.





I now need to figure out where the paint booth is going to go so I can continue with the airbrush painting of the camo.

hmmm.. decision, decision.
