Very nice work and great progress, Warren!

Boeing offline for a week or so always means to miss a couple of your updates...
Once Si mentioned the designer stools - well, with that idea in my head they certainly look like that... -you can thank Si, you'll always have stools on your Haguro now...

She's looking really good, though!!

Cheers,
Jan

Thanks everyone. Am back from my pilgrimage and will be attending to the Haguro post haste... well sometime soon..

Cheers

Hello everyone.

I have been back for about a week and have some progress shots for you. Apart from sticking one of the catapaults to my thumb..

.. nothing much has happened. I eventually got the catapault off with a knive and some debonder. The catapaults go together well and end up like these..

The one at the back is the one I glued to my finger so well. Before that I finished off the main turrets and installed them..

I then finished of the main mast with it's radar array..

The main superstructure and funnels were installed..

And the railings installed..

And that is it for the moment. Hopefully the light I see at the end of the tunnel is the end of the build and not a freight train headed my way.

Cheers for now

Warren,

She's really starting to look like the Haguro! I like the crisp workmanship and clean paint job.

Thanks Russell, Simon, Simonn and Tim.

The Haguro has been a relatively painless build most of the problems being caused by my mistakes rather than faults with the kit. But you have to make sure you take close notes on what part you are supposed to use in what position if you want a 100% accurate build. Luckily the one big booboo I made is hardly noticeable..

But on with the update. I started adding sticky-uppy things mainly the two flag sticks at the front and rear of the ship. I am nit sure they are scale thickness but I am sure they will bend easily if I am not careful..

Then I added the towers to two of the turrets..

Next I painted and added the propellors..

And depth markers. Then I built the pop-guns.

No shields provided for these and I wouldn't have had to build any if I had done the 1941 version. Then some gun tubs for the triple mounts.

I also had to paint a shed load of ammo boxes for the various AA guns, 23mm I think and I added them behind the pop-guns as directed..

Then I went back to the aircraft I started earlier and finished building them..

There are actually four different types included in the kit but I am not sure if they will be being added to the ship as it makes it a fair bit wider with then on the catapaults and I am sure they will get knocked off very easily. Not cool man..

Finally I attached the rear mast too early as I had forgotten to paint the matt black parts. I removed it by using a razor saw on it but it went back together pretty easily after I painted it..

And that's about it for the moment.

Hey there Jan.

Yes, commissioning should occur sometime this afternoon if the gods allow it.

Hello everyone.

I am calling time on this build..

That's it for now. Next build WAS going to be Trumpeter's USS Alabama, BUT the instructions with the Flyhawk set I got for it seem to be missing information on about where to put about half of the PE parts! Not impressed.. So I am going to build Dragon's Scharnhorst instead.. about 40 years after I built the Airfix one.

Cheers
Warren

Very nice indeed Warren!

Another awesome commissioning! Definitely time for a few to celebrate!

No rigging though?

Looking forward to seeing the Scharnhorst built up!
