Today's progress,

The foremast, the kit supplied white metal lower section, along the a brass rod replacement and upper section.



Joining the two brass rod section.



It doesn't show that well, but some cotton wool added to try and give a bit of life to the water between the ship and the boat.



The white metal crow's nest cut off the bendy mast and added.



etched yard arm, Radar and Huff Duff aerials fitted, apart from the ladder, that is foremast done.

The mast fit looks odd, but matched it to a photograph showing Hesperus coming into port, with that scheme and damage to her bow, it was an uncensored picture clearly showing the radars and the pennant number.

Stays and halyards on the foremast.

The aerial run on, the spreader on the vestigial mainmast is scratchbuilt.

Thanks Mate, first attempt at this kind of dio.

As for the fleet, currently 2 Battleships, 2 Battlecruisers, 1 CVL, 1 heavy Cruiser 3 armoured cruiser about a dozen fleet destroyers, 4 Escort destroyers 2 FFG's 1 LSC 1 corvette 1 monitor and 4 U boats. (Aproximately)

When I write that down is it quite a few ships.

that's a really great diorama - and considering it's your first!!! I've never tried my hands on one, and I am not sure if I will in the nearer future - 'building' the water really scares me! I still think you did a great job, and on your pics the wake from Hesperus with a backing starboard shaft comes across pretty realistic!

Must admit the seascape did scare me, especially the complex wakes. Appreciate you kind comments on the wake, never tried to replicate one ahead, one atern before. I have had to get most of the "depth" from layering paint, as I am no sculptor.
