Today's progress,
The foremast, the kit supplied white metal lower section, along the a brass rod replacement and upper section.
Joining the two brass rod section.
It doesn't show that well, but some cotton wool added to try and give a bit of life to the water between the ship and the boat.
The white metal crow's nest cut off the bendy mast and added.
etched yard arm, Radar and Huff Duff aerials fitted, apart from the ladder, that is foremast done.
more soon.

Hi Russ,
Your comment made me laugh mate, but I get your point. it is quite a bit kit on a small pole mast, next job finding some clear pics o the rigging.
Cheers

Hi Si,
this diorama of yours is absolutely awesome!! Setting and water look spot on - I don't need to say that the models are looking great, as well...
Cheers,
Jan

Hi Russ,
Thanks Mate, first attempt at this kind of dio.
As for the fleet, currently 2 Battleships, 2 Battlecruisers, 1 CVL, 1 heavy Cruiser 3 armoured cruiser about a dozen fleet destroyers, 4 Escort destroyers 2 FFG's 1 LSC 1 corvette 1 monitor and 4 U boats. (Aproximately)
When I write that down is it quite a few ships.
Cheers

Wow, Si, this is great! I'd call your diorama "beautiful" if it weren't such a deadly scene. Fantastic sense of mood...

Hi Si,
that's a really great diorama - and considering it's your first!!! I've never tried my hands on one, and I am not sure if I will in the nearer future - 'building' the water really scares me! I still think you did a great job, and on your pics the wake from Hesperus with a backing starboard shaft comes across pretty realistic!
Cheers,
Jan

Si,
Amazing work. Really highlights the tension that was probably felt by both crews.
Great work

Hi Russ,
I didn't realise it was that many, actually make it 35 forgot 1 Panzerschiff, mind he is in need of a refit.
Cheers
Si.
P.S. I'd best not tell Mrs Duster it's that many, might be an embargo on workshop time.

Thank you very much Jan.
Must admit the seascape did scare me, especially the complex wakes. Appreciate you kind comments on the wake, never tried to replicate one ahead, one atern before. I have had to get most of the "depth" from layering paint, as I am no sculptor.

I think Mrs E would have a fit if I had that many!
at 35 in the fleet and counting, you're at risk of running out of topics

Hi Russ,
That is one reason I am glad Mrs Duster doesn't read this!
Still lots of stuff out there to be built, mate comes out faster than I could keep up, even if I tried.
Cheers

A bit late to the party here, but thought I'd post this super colour photo of Hesperus in Icelandic waters.
Apologies if you have seen it before -
