It was a busy weekend so just a small update.
I have decided to have the motor boats on the davits swung out, I cannot seem to get the boats to fit swung in.
The starboard davits in place with etched man ropes and falls.
The foremast etch is designed for a later fit.
trimmed up and fitted.

Regrettably there will be a short hiatus on the Benson, she took a knock on the bench over the weekend, I will have to strip out all the rigging.
Will get back to her after I have commissioned Bismarck.

Sorry to hear about the unprovoked attack on your ship yard, glad to hear that the rigging was the only damage.

You know how you solve the knocking over part Si? Stop building so many ships like you're Norfolk naval yard and putting us all to shame, all jokes set aside, I'm sorry to hear about the mishap, at least the rigging only suffered, with your build rate though you should be able to get her back up and rolling.

I wonder (and I hope I'm wrong, 'cause I like the way yours look) - didn't the USN paint the wooden slat platforms on the insides of the rafts gray to match surrounding surfaces?

My own carelessness, could almost see it happening before I did it.
I have already cut away the forestays, I am going to look at the halyards, may be able to straighten some rather than redo.

Yup, no excuses, just not paying full attention to what I was going.
On the rafts, I think you are probably right, certainly after the outbreak of war, (almost everything was camoed less, less contrast for somebody staring through a rangefinder to lock onto).
Pre war I am not so sure, looking at pre war photos of US warships they did look as "spit and polish" as the RN, and bare slats (or webbing on RN rafts) would be easier to keep smart than painted ones.
Also I like look of them this way too.
