After all reworking on the Z10 & Z23, and the on going work on the Hesperus, needed an OOTB (ish) build, and this was in the stash.

Having said that, will be a week or two before I cut plastic or brass on this lady, celebrating Young Duster's 18th this weekend, so with a house full, don't see much chance of sneaking off to the bench. Should be fun though.

Made a bit of progress sat on the club stand at Southern Expo.

The keel is laid.



bulkhead at the break of fo'c's'le fitted, the doors are from the GMM fret.

The front end of the larger section needed a little modification to fit with the fo'c's'le deck in place.

Gun decks for 2,3 and 4 mounts.

A picture being worth a thousand words, here are the non slip walkway decals in place on my earlier build of USS Laffey.



The decals really do work, need to get a better gloss goat than I did on the Laffey though.

The nonslip paths on your Laffey look just right!

Benson will benefit from them too - just enough contrast to add depth of detail without being distracting like the overscale molded-in or even photoetch versions I've seen.

Wasn't convinced by the decals on the sheet, but do like the look of them down.

First job tomorrow will be shooting some gloss (I use Tamiya TS13 "clear" out of the rattlecan, great stuff and very forgiving.
