Wow Si,

just catching up here - that's too bad!!! Just joining in with all the prior comments, most of all, hope you'll be able to recover soon!!

Your copper wire work was looking excellent, as always...I truly hope you get that back on as it looks on your last posted pictures!!

I'm feeling with you, that' really painful!!

Cheers Mate and keep up your good spirit!!

Appreciate the support Jan,

The reason for the hiatus is more putting as much time into Bismarck to get him finished, than being put off the project.

I will get back to her within the next few weeks. Keep watching Mate.

Cheers

Looking great Si!

I have the Dragon kit that is the 1942 version I hope to get to later on this year. Following your builds along with others is helping.

Have to finish my USS New Orleans 1/700 which is making my eyes cross!

Cheers

Sorry, Correction, I have the USS Buchanan 1942. Same type of ship just slightly different.

Is the Gold Metal Model for these worth it?

Cheers

Hi Mike,

I think the gold medal set is worth it, all the usual stuff, railings, radars, armament, stuff for the boats and rafts, as it covers most variants the Benson / Gleaves classes Dragon have released you will get some spares out of it.

Cheers

Si,
I really like how your ship is turning out. Bummer about having to redo the rigging. In the last photo in this post it looks like some of the fore stays may interfere with the pivoting of the gun director. If you haven't already redone them you may want to check the positioning. It may just be the angle of the photo but it wouldn't be hard to double check.
Again, excellent work so far.

Hi John,

Well spotted, I hadn't noticed. I will cut them out, even the undamaged one, and recheck the rigging diagram.

Appreciate the heads up, not always easy to spot your own mistakes.

Finally, back on this one.

New forestays, in the right place this time (I think)

The aerials on.

and with some paint on.

Insulators still adding, with paint, then the boats attaching to the davits, and few minor details, and it'll be time to hoist the ensign.

Cheers

Once again, crisp and clean copper wire work - and now really nearing commissioning!

Another fine model, looking forward to the flag hoisting!

Si,
Really like how this is turning out. The rigging looks spot on. Wish I had your skills.

Thanks Jan,

Glad to back on this one, she is close, need to have a study of the instructions, just to make sure I don't miss anything.

Thanks John,

Appreciate your kind words, like most things in our great hobby it is a case of finding a material that works for you, and practice. No one right way to do it.

I admire the guys that can knit a spider's web from all these monofilament threads.

Cheers

Si
