sorry mates for the radio silence lately - I´m still alive but struggling with all these tiny PE-parts for the 25 mm triple AA guns. I am sure my eyes will deterior at least one diopter until all these guns have been finished. The carpet monster is another serious thread here too...


Here are the parts of the six remaining shielded AA-guns. I do use a mix of Flyhawk and BIGBLUEBOY parts.


These are the first two prototypes finished. Another six shielded and two unshielded are still to come


And when we accomplished that there are the sixteen single 25 mm guns waiting for me

The "prototypes" look excellent. I know what you mean about the eyesight. I am beginning to think I am going to have to give in and get some kind of magnification to aid me.

spend the whole saturday and sunday (with some breaks of course) with the Assembly of all the triple guns - and voila - finished them finally . Each shielded gun consisting about 12 parts

Our dock workers were not lazy this weekend and we accomplished to cut out, bend and glue together the last 16 single 25 mm AA-guns before the employer could get a serious patience deficiency. Carpet Monster also struck again and actually we had to build 17 guns

That is some really smooth work on those AA guns. Even for a light cruiser, there are quite a few of them!

By the way, I've discovered a neat anti-carpet monster measure; every once in a while I go over the carpet near my desk with a canister type vacuum cleaner, but where its end tube connects with the flexible hose I insert a bit of old nylon stocking. After a few passes I stop and disassemble the parts, and the stocking has filtered out all kinds of tiny parts I never thought I'd see again.

Take THAT carpet monster!

I can just hear the carpet monster now "that sucks"

All weapons are finished and placed at their proposed stations. There is no part bending/glueing/painting anymore . And this is how it all looks now fully armed:










Now there is just the final rigging chapter waiting for me. And I already ordered a nice acrylglass display case for this ship - it should arrive next week.

Gentlemen, a short update: finished the rigging at the stern main mast. I did used EZ-line rigging wire which is great stuff.


One question toward the competend audience: very often I see wirings at the side of the main bridge in different colors (white or brown) - where these cables indeed different colored or were they just plain black?

I seen color photos from WW2 both Japanese and American ships with a dark (black) and brown. Could it be new vs old wiring or rope?
