That superstructure is really taking shape. I have to ask but what are those PE thingy things in the top-down photo? Cannot make them out.

great job on the range finders! Currently battling my way through the same on my kit...

Hi all proof I've not given up on this.

Here is one of the four pom poms on the next part (they just take so long)



Here are the unfolded magazine casings for the rest of them 



Here they are folded



Now I just have to cut the magazine's themselves and bend them then fit them, oh and then cut out and bend the body's, then cut off the magazine's off the plastic parts, oh then bend the cages for the magazines.

I really don't think I will do PE pompoms again.

I saw somewhere where someone makes resin and PE pompoms for 1/700 scale ships that have 100+ parts, including metal barrels. Whoever undertakes those is either a hero or totally insane, or maybe a masochist.

Yes they do Ken! After finishing the pom poms and boats on my KGV build I had to take 18 months off from her!





I think all of us who dabble in the salty side are a little bit of both

Bit of a catastrophe on this one missus knocked one of the sub assemblies off the bench, i can't find the pe range finder also can't find the bit the crane is held between on the 2 bits that both broke off to say I'm annoyed is an understatement, i was going to try and finish the Oerlikons this weekend, also some of the pe mast stuff is missing or bent (hopefully I can straighten that out.







Not sure what else is missing I'm hoping anything else won't notice.

Sorry to hear about your mishap, I have a cleaning lady that forgot that she wasn't suppose to dust my ships and took off the whole mast assembly of my Scharnhorst battlecruiser a week after I finished her.
Hope the PE turns up.

Not good when that sort of thing happens Ken! Sorry to hear of the mishap! (Always can create a few tensions too, when it's the result of something another family member did, whether intentional or not...)

Hi all well I finally got some modelling time and I've fixed what I can and I've now glued the sub assy's to the deck (I know it will make adding further pe problematical but I figure the whole ship will have to be knocked off the bench to damage bits in the future)






So now I have about a gazillion bits of PE to add to the  Oerlikons, then all the railings, build and add the last set of pompoms to the stern big guns, add the pe to those guns and the job should be a goodun.

The King is looking regal, great progress Ken. Although I would not recommend knocking it of the bench again though, that is a bit of a drastic way of sorting painting issues.

Oh how I wish I hadn't glued the sub assy's on putting the railings around them is proving to be a royal pita, I've even tried prying them off (why is it that you really glue something well and it falls off if you sneeze, you just tack something and it's stuck fast) grrrrrrrrr I think I've just made this a million times harder, i should not have got paranoid that the sub assy's would get knocked to the floor again.
