If I may be so bold, referring to Warships as "He" goes back to the Kaiserliche Marine. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, I believe it was Wilhelm II that decreed it should be so. The practice may we have dropped out of favour in the days of the Reichsmarine.

beautiful work on your Bismarck, the paint job looks great!! And the few days she spent off Norway, with the hull still in baltic camouflage but the superstructure already painted over is quite my favorite appearance. (Not the least because painting the stripes on the superstructure is really tricky)

On a side-note, normally I am staying away from any 'political' discussions here, since we are talking modeling. But you may have seen I call her, Bismarck, a she. I honestly don't no about the Kaiserliche Marine and Wilhelm II talking about male ships, that may be the case but I need to do some research on that one. However, as Si already remarked, that came out of fashion pretty soon. For Reichsmarine and Kriegsmarine all ships were female. And I do know the stories around Bismarck and 'he'. Well, Lindemann may have stated that, however, it was not the mind and inspiration of a German naval officer behind that, but ultimately the political system and the one guy that ruled Germany during those years. I'd therefore prefer to go by 'she' , if I may say so as an active duty German Navy Officer.

You installed them quite early on - I'm tending to leave that until very late, since I'm always afraid to destroy them with some clumsiness while working other parts of the ship...

I remember seeing a neatly built up out-of-the-box Tamiya Bismarck in a hobby shop shortly after it came out when I was a kid... It didn't even have railing, but I thought it was the coolest ship model I'd ever seen! I now recognize that despite its good basic elements, the kit is by today's standards somewhat lacking in detail. It is great fun watching you add the sharp paint job, wood deck, and photoetch details that are really bringing this old classic to life. Keep up the good work!

Every day on this site is an adventure Mark and you and all the others make it so for me.

Yet again some fine work with PE.
However you might want to check instructions again for the AA/searchlight platform above admirals bridge, the upwards angled walls should be towards superstructure, unless its just unbent yet.
Caught my eye cause I just built that bit myself.
