July 1st and I vote for broadside.

On the Dreadnought note though, perhaps sometime next year we could arange a dreadnough build, IE, anything from 1905 to the Washington Naval treaty. Problem is, thats pretty much all resin ships.

I doubt I'll be able to participate but as to the name how about this. One of the best books on battleships I've read was called, The Thunder of the Guns. I always likes that name.

August 1
7 or 8 months
Broadside

this will include sailing ships.....ships of the line so frigates (Old Ironsides) are excluded.

I would also like to stipulate that anyone brave enough to tackle one of these beasts (Heller makes some pretty great ones too by the way) be given a completion as long as hull is complete...painted totally, all masts and spars are in position, and most of rigging is complete. A special notice of a V device for Victory if they manage to complete it

Hi Steve!
I think the only Sailing ships that should qualify are the old Ironclads, like the Agincourt. I guess the Old Iron sides would fit in there to. These were the predesessers of the Battleships. And like you said, all the power to the member that wants to tackle one of these! (jrats ?)

First, my vote:
1 July, 9 months, Battlewagons.

An aside: 100-gun ships like Victory were the battleships of that age. Frigates (Constitution) were much smaller, but once above 60 or 70 guns, you were into "Ships of the Line". Nonetheless, I'm not gonna tackle my Heller Victory until I have a clean bench & all my supplementary research done.

So I'll stick with the Iron Shipwright NC BB-55.

August, 7 months, and I could care less about a name...

I think it should be limited to iron hulled battleships...basically, Dreadnought is considered the first true battleship in the modern sense...since all ships of war can be coined 'battle' ships if you want to get literal.

I would basically open it up to 1900 and later, battleships and battlecruisers.

This could include then, ships like the upcoming Mikasa, HMS Hood, Renown, Repulse, Scharnhorst, Queen Mary (no, not the liner), Indefatigable, Lion, etc...
It should also include the Alaskas, even though their categorized as Large Cruiser, they're Battlecruisers. It can also open up some of the modern Soviet stuff.

My two pence.

Hey Garry....

There's a campaign name you could have used....."Salvo". That sounds kind of cool too for a name.

It too has that epic ring like "broadsides"....hmmmm
