I thought I would post this to help get you all primed for the Dreadnoughts Campaign. This is the New Jersey in 1968 off the coast of Vietnam, It was taken from a swift boat by my father in law.
Man I can't believe how much I'm getting into this Navy stuff...it's all your fault! :-)

Awesome picture Steven! By the angle of her guns, this salvo was headed far inland.
Going to make you a swabbi yet my friend!

This is the Swift Boat my father in law took the picture from. It's the 36 Boat. He was also assigned to the 44 Boat ( before John Kerry took command of the 44)
And this be him.
Until then....

Same place...looks like the exact same time! Look at the shadows on the hull of the ship...they're in the exact same spot. Holy crap! I'll have to ask John if there was another boat out there with them....maybe his was taken in 69. He would have still been there then. Garry, I'm going to borrow your photo and send it to him and ask about this.

Hi Sean!
This was just a thought!
I would never wanted to break members interest with another campaign running at the same time - specially in the warship area (we are so few - but good)
That's why I stated it as a "could be" for next year Campaign
(we are still in Feb 05 and I am thinking already on Jan 06)
I think this would be (also) a great campaign theme...
Although I would like to have a place in the Big A with a warship campaign archive.... is there such a place?
Garry?

Garry,
It's seriously possible that both photos were taken at the same time. Cos Div 14's patrol area extended north to Song Cao (Which is north of Tuy Hoa) and south to Phan Rang. His boat was based out of Cam Ranh Bay. Tuy Hoa would have been in his boat's patrol area. I'm laying my money on that they were taken at the same time. I sent him both photos last night, but haven't heard from him yet.
Too cool.....I dig stuff like this.

The only problem for me with all these campaigns is time and distraction. I still have a 350 scale Hornet, Enterprise, and Nimitz to build. I've got the Bismarck for the Dreadaught, and with the emminent release of the Lexington, and expected North Carolina, Hood, and Alabama. So let me propose a modification to the Brown Water Navy make it a Viet Nam era theme that way I can either do the Enterprise or maybe the NimitZ. I don't think they make any 350 scale Riverine boats anyway. The only one I'm familiar with is that 35th scale PBR
