Hey Steven, I beleave it is 1/426 scale. Toms model works 1/400 rails and ladders should work fine. That old Zona kit is realy a pretty good kit!

I agree, that old kit is still pretty good. It was one of my very first ship models, I bought it when I was about 12. I've been 39 for five years now, so that shows you how long it has been around.
Old model kits never die. They just get reboxed under another label.

Thanks Garry,
I'll be getting me a set. I dry fit the hull and some of the super structure together last night. I liked the fit and the look. I even added the two front turrets...then it really looked nice. Of course, my heart went pitter-patter and my eyes glazed a bit....then I looked at all the subs. .

Chuckster, 39 for five years huh? I've been 41 for 3 months...and I think I'll just hover around here for awhile.

 See ya guys

If memory servers me thay did two, one close to 1/700 scale, and the other close to 1/400 scale.

I understood the old Arizona kit, which I made way back in the late 60s or early 70s, was what was called "box scale." Basically that means the model was made to fit the box, not the other way around. I understood it was closest to 1/570 but I couldn't swear to that.
Unless you're really keen to make that kit you might look at the 1/350 kit that is marketed under Banner, or a few other brands. I know there are PE sets for that kit and it makes into a pretty good model of the Arizona.

I first built that kit in 1961, then again in 1967. It is definitely 426 scale. I think when Trumpeter put together their 350 scale, they merely enlarged the original Revell kit....if memeory serves it was assembled pretty much the same way.

That's a good thing to know. I may have just saved myself some modeling money that can be applied to either the purchase of a Hornet or the 1/72nd VIIC.....I think I'd still ike the 1/350th though...but I can back burner it.
