I am in the process of building a airfix 1/600 Battleship HMS Warspite. I am building her as she was on June 1944, at the D-Day landings. She had a disruptive camo scheme then, but I dont and cant find what colors she was painted with. Can anyone give me a run down on the colors? Or a picture of her at this time?

Many thanks in advance!

Ask John from White ensign I think he is Dign25 or something like that. He'll have the exact colors

Yes Steve your correct on that, John is the best person to ask. But Im sure John would suggest his color coats paints, and right now I realy cant afford them. I will just have to work with what I have on hand and try to mix and match once I know the right colors. Thanks for your suggestion bud!

Garry,

I'm not sure if this will help, but here is something

http://www.sailgb.com/p/anatomy_the_ship_battleship_hms_warspite_ross_watton/

I also found several photos of her...although they were black and white and of no help

If you can not get a response from anyone, I'll check a book I have at home and see if it has a color plate of the Warspite.

One other thing, if you don't wish to purcahse that book (it is sort high) I would suggest going to your local library and see if they have it or if they can obtain it through Inter Library Loan. I'll bet if they can do that they'll have for you in a couple of days.

Thanks for that Steven. And your right, I cant afford the book. Though it is a good one, I have seen it before! But I will take your advice and go to the Library and see if they have it there. Good thinking! I will post some pic's of my progress soon.

Garry,

Would the HMS Prince of Wales have the same pattern as the Warspite? If so, I do have a color plate of it.

Hope it might help

Hold the presses gents! I found what I was looking for. And, right in a book that I forgot I had! Great warships by Antony Preston. There is a whole section there for the Warspite, including pictures and drawings!
Thank you all for your kind help. Now I can move on to the next stage of the build!

Kind regards,

Garry
