For those who are working on the DDD campaign or just building a submarine, if you need something to give the building spirit a boost, here are two books that I've been reading that may keep that fire burning.

"Death of The U-Boats" Edwin P. Hoyt 1988
A typical Hoyt work, written as a non technical work yet as a general history of the U-Boat campaigns with a fair amount of information. The appendix contains the itemized losses to the U-Boat arm including the fates of surrendered boats.

"Rising Tide: The Untold Story of The Russian Submarines That Fought The Cold War." Gary E. Weir and Walter J. Boyne. 2003
An excellent look at submarine operations within the Soviet Submarine Fleet through interviews with retired Soviet subamariners and Admirals.
The most interesting story thus far was the collision of the USS Gato and a Soviet sub in the very early days of the Cold War.

This book is best read in tandem with "Blind Man's Bluff" or "The Silent War"

Hope you'll find these works as informative and enjoyable as I have.

Ahoy Steve

You have been asking about my books for some time... Sorry for taking so long answering!
I'll make a list of my naval books, most of them submarine related, but also flattops and other wonders of WWII and post them tomorrow or after - it's a long list!

I think I needed a push
