Hey happy skipper! It's more than 24 hours old! Why isn't it finnished yet? :-) :-)
(Look who's talking: I'm "building" a 1:350 sub for over 12 months now...)
Are u gonna use the ICM figures on the boat? I have seen those sets at my LHS and they look absolutely great!

Happy modelling!

Wie lange willst du vertig sein? Es ist einen schornen model. Sorry, I don't have umlat capabilities on my system, and my German is a wee bit rusty. Hope you enjoy. I got three sets of those CMK figres and they do look good and kind of liven the completed kit up.

Naja, meine deutsch ist schlecht...ist verlaust!
In fact, these days I know enough to get my face slapped.

Was ist "vertig" ich vergesen.

And it is beautiful model....wonderfully huge!

Anyway, I thought about the CKM figures and it was yours I think that I'd seen them on...and I liked as you said, how it livened it up.

It's been a real test of my will to NOT start building it. I would like to wait and build it this summer and have it finished in time for the WWII display in November. It, will be the coupe de gras. I'll savor every moment of building it.

I've seen it from US$40.00 to near US$70.00 in different online model shops...

I think you'll have to search well and consider the shipping cost, since it's a BIG BOX!

Mine costed €50.00 at one of the LHS - and I have already spend too much on AM parts - and it is still in the box

Well the kit is €60 here, so that's $78. Now you also need to get it to your country all the way from Germany so you have transport costs too.......I'd say it costs about $ 80 - $ 90 ?

Mine is still in the box as well, waiting for a few PE sets and possibly some figures. I never planned on doing it for the DDD campaign because I want to be able to take my time and detail it as much as possible. It's just nice knowing I've got one...unlike David who still doesn't :-)

Just kidding David...I'm sure you'll break down and get one sooner or later....

It's comforting to know that I am no longer the odd duck out. :-) :-) :-)

Though I will not torment you with mine as Martin did me, with his

As Skip mentioned, there is a broad spectrum of prices. A couple of months ago, Squadron had them on sale for around $36.00 US. Shipping of course would have made it over 40 as Skip stated. Mine cost around $80.00. It is a bit pricey, but you know when you dig it out of the box...it's awe inspiring .

It's ok, I won't snitch to the armor guys about your naval leanings.

What is is it Bjorn says? Oh yeah! "It's ok..everyone is doing it, it'll be fun!"

You'll love it and I hope you get one as well.

Ah Spring in Kansas, predicting tornados today. And it looks like it could outside.

It is huge, I need to reshuffle my stash pile so I can store it....which means I can't buy anymore kits until I have opened up some storage......

Good thing there are campaigns, great way to rip through the pile.

I got mine about 6 months ago and it's still in the box too...spent heaps on aftermarket parts and research. I've even bought some paint for testing, tho that'll be a looong way off. Great model, it's "must" to have!

I did mine for the DDD campaign. Used the Model brass pe kit (metal deck) and spent the first 3 weeks drilling out all the little holes and mouting the lower brass replacement pieces. Finished it though and made one mistake. Used guitar strings for the rigging and it sagged. As I had used up the little plastic tensioner pieces I decided to go with it and submit it. So It has been posted. Sorry the pics are lame, not real happy with digital cameras...give me an SLR anyday....oh wait I still have one. One day I promise I will go back and replace the rigging to make it look world class. I did use little people on mine and they give it a more real look. The pic is posted somewhee in this forum, the campaign forum under DDD and of course on my gallery site. Ah heck, I'll go ahead and post here too, maybe it'll get some of you inspired enough to tackle your kits.

Steve, very nice. Roughly sim col scheme to what I plan, and I got a crew too. I'm surprised the guitar string sagged.I've used it as hose/tubing on a couple things (the thicker, multiwrapped bass strings). I've heard of someone usingt hin wire from hardware store, like piano wire. I might stick with thread, but use beeswax to stop the furry bits. Been toying with idera of getting or making mini blocks.

Anyway, nice job. And cutting out the limber hoes is worth it I think! (Tho I say this before I start...)

oooh oooh - can you post more pix (close ups!), love to see.
