Hey AT,
They both came out pretty nice, I think my favorite is the early version. Something about that tri-color scheme that just looks good on subs.
Take care!

Yes, this prewar red lower hull looks pretty neat.
It was already discussed a lot of times about existence of such painted boats, still looks unquestionably good for static display model.
By the by, I made forms for both CT, so if anybody interested I can cast for you.

What did you use for the insulators on the wires? I've brought this up in another discussion as well. I need to make some for my Lil' VII C. I looked at glass beads, but couldn't find anything small enough.

Steve,
I used super glue for styrene mixed with micro balloons.
forming small drops is a breeze. Just try to make it in 3-4 steps.
you easy can form insulators and wiring holders.

I thought those were the 72nd scale Revell kits at first, then I saw they were only the earlier 125th scalekits. These are quite well detailed. You did a great job on both

Those are some awsome looking boats. Very inspirational work. What colors did you use on the camoflaged one?

Sounds like a good plan, I'll try it out!

Hi Plasticat,
the models aibrushed with Revell enamel paints.
for U201 I used Revell 31177 or simply 77 if it is in small metal cans. It is dust grey, matt.
For upper hull painted with 31374 or 74 - grey.
the camo strips is mixture of both above and few drops of deep blue, I do not remember number. I gues any will work.
I used 77 as base, added about 5% blue, mixed with some effort (very important for good results as I learned) and after that added some 74 to keep gamma the same but make it lighter.
I know, that accuracy of colors are something we all consider, and I MUST say this selection is not 100% historically, technically or technologically accurate, but I enjoy the boat myself.
I also will ably some weathering soon, so keep tracking.
Gruss fom Deutschalnd,

I'm betting that if skipper were around, he say a resounding yes! This has been a campaign of encouragement from day one, so I'd say go for it! I can't for one minute think there's any reason NOT to do a build for this!
