I was just reading thorugh the posts on the 1/72 VIIC and I was struck by Darryl's comment about being glad he had his but was going to wait and build it when he could take his time, detail it, and enjoy it. After I at last got mine, I said the same thing...that is, until I heard voices from the box say "build me build me". Temptation is a powerful thing...however, I stuck to my guns for the most part...I taped it together just to see what it would look like. I promise to put it back in the box.....after....a week.

I'm pretty sure I won't fall off the wagon on this.

Mate, not that I'm trying to let you break your promise or something like that but...really....you can't resist this LOL....the kit is just too cool to build :-)

Darryl could be right about taking your time for building the VIIC. But I kinda rushed through the build and I still loved it.

It's up to you.....

"Build me Steve....build me please!....Steeeeeeeeve"

Nah...I really want to to take my time on this one. If it works the way I'd like, I want to take it to OZ Con this year.

Besides, I have enough on my plate as it is.

Besides, Martin, what the hell are you doing here? You have your AB going...get back to work! :-) :-)

Gotta go, Band of Brothers is about to come on.

LOL

Well if it will make you two feel any better, I am gathering up stuff to build it.

BUT! I still plan to take my time. I'm thinking vignette..ish. Sort of a shadow box affair...what do you think?

I know how you feel, I've a 6 foot by 7 foot stash of kits because of that little voice.

What the heck do you think that Trumpeter North Carolina is doing to me? As to a shadow box. What a marvelous way to depict this truely outstanding model. I have seen someone waterline it for a diorama, but what a waste. Did you see the article a couple of months ago in Fine Scale Modeler where the guy did one side waterline and the other side he had the full hull

No, I haven't seen that article. To be honest, I let my FSM subscription lapse because to me, it seemed like they keep re-hashing the same old stuff. I seem to learn more here than I ever did with 10 years worth of FSM.

Although, I would be interested in seeing that, so maybe I can find it in the back issues pile.

Yeah the more I think about how I'd like to build this boat, the more I like that idea.

I want that Trumpeter Hornet....you would not believe the amount restraint it's taking...well, yes you would.

Ahoy Steve!

The shadow box idea is great for a second built!
And I explain why: IMHO this is one of those models to enjoy 360º - so if you'll put it inside a box, and in this case a shadow box it will force a view that will make a lot to be left out of vision... And since you're investing in more AM parts, I would sugest a "full view"

Would it be a "Shadow Box" or a "Box that makes Shadow", due to her size? :-)

Bear this in mind - but go with your feelings

Howdi mates

Now that I' ve had time to soak up the first sun and taste the green grass for a couple of weeks, it's time to get back to the real work!!!
Nice to see so many here are still so sub-crazy!!.
Now I know this may sound stupid, but what is a shadow box??

Steve.. the voices already won once over your stubernness.. .. there's no use in just hurting yourself any more trying to resist them twice...

"....please Steve... it's so dark in this box.....".... I wonna be handled... painted..... modelled to your wishes... clean me.. build me... show me off to your mates...."

darn.....now if only my girlfriend would sound more like this...

:-) :-)

Ha! If only my wife sounded.....er...

Nope! I refuse to build it just yet. I plan on taking my sweet time with it. I want it to be perfect...or as close as can be expected from me.

A Shadow box is...a box that sort of looks like a picture frame and you light them and build a scene inside...like a diorama..but covered.

Though mine will not be a true shadow box...I'll draw out a sketch and post it later on what I'm thinking about there.

back to work

Steve
