I guess it's true...anything is for sale.

Now how do I get it home and into the lake?

I heard the Russians are selling T-34's. I'd like to "capture" one of them.

The good part is that it is already sold!
It could pay off, if it were in a museum in the proper place!
For instance, USS Pampanito:
You have to pay US$7.00 for entrance, plus US$1.00 for the folding panflet (I did both and I am glad I did it), and lots of visitors, both Pampanito and the Jeremiah O'Brian... If you would have to pay US$10.00 for visiting a Russian sub and could have 139 visitor per day in a year it would pay the amount necessary to buy it :-)
Considering you didn't have any other expenses :-) :-)

But then... it's not my scale

I thought it would be perfect for dealing with those water skiers and bass boats in the "No Wake Zones".
That'll teach them to wash my line ashore!

Are the shipping costs and torpedo's included in that price?
Oh wait a sec, this thing can ship itself.....hmm.....would it fit in the ditch behind my house?
Nice link Steve hehe :-)

for that the Pampanito would be better:
twin 20mm oerlikons ans the 40mm boffords would do the job! If needed bigger caliber is available

What sort of obscure license would you need to operate it? And could it be legally controlled by any civilian?

I'd be pretty reluctant to get in one of those Ruskie boats, especially the early ones, diesel or not.
I looked around on the site and among other things, a 330m VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) is also up for sale, at a cool $50 million!

I think that one would need a few friends to take it out for a spin!

I'm sure you've heard the old saying they have in submarines. (My son is a former enlisted submariner.)
The officers may be able to get the boat out, but it takes the enlisted men to make sure they get the boat BACK!!! :-)

Surely there must be a law around from letting you sail military carriers/ subs and battleships around the globe. You could cause all sorts of trouble in non friendly parts of the world.
It would still be cool though, now i want some then i can take over my own carribbian island, next the world HA HA HA HA HA

You know, we could pool our money...purchase something like this...or the submarine, there's enough ex-military and enthusiast that could crew them...and make a living being pirates....of the Caribbean no less.

I am not quite sure there is. If it is from a government, you'd have to go through them, but other than that, its like buying any other ship, albeit a really big one. The weapons would be taken off/rendered inoperable, and buying any weapon to put on it would require permission from the selling company's defense ministry, but I don't think there is like an international committee on foreign warship sales.

I would suspect that Jeff is correct. It would, more or less, be no different than the ability to purchase obsolete fighter planes, tanks or some helicopters. One can only imagine what is for sale in the former Soviet states as far as hardware.
