Ahoy all!
After my sudden MIA (for work reasons) on my comeback "home" I was impressed with the number of models and modelers that where abble to finish the DDD Campaign!
I have browsed the gallery and I would like to invite you all to spend a few hours (yes HOURS) and enjoy lots of vey fine models!
I think that this is a proof that the Warship Area is "still afloat" - yes, I know they are subs :-)
Enjoy the

Man, I had no idea there were that many subs completed!!!
I hope they'll keep this gallery running for a while, so maybe by the end of the following year, or after the flattops campaign we can start up a DDD-2, and use this gallery as a reference?
And who knows, in 30 years I can sit down with my grandson, and help him with his sub for the DDD- 30 campaign, while showing him the pics of the time his grandpa joined in on the very first DDD ever....
It just stunned me how many people that normally would have never painted a sub if it was not for the DDD campaign have now produced such a masterpieces.
Garry would have been proud to see all this work!
Let's keep the fires burning, and let's start thinking dreadnoughts now!!!!

Ahoy Björn!
Yes it would be fun - although I doubt that in the next years there will be another sub campaign - with all the warship related campaigns that are in line

But this is a good sign

Can't agree with you, more, Bjorn...
A fine collection of work displayed, a job well done by all involved, and after this one, I'm sure that the fires will burn for a long time here at the Big A! A salty hat's off to all the participants!

Bjorn,
If you have a chance, I'll send you my e-mail so you can send me a step by step of ow you achieved your water! That is fantastic! I drool everytime I see that bow wave!
All,
There were a lot of great subs and I can't wait to see the battlewagons.
It was sort of depressing after the campaign ended because the posts sort of dropped off to nothing. I looked forward to coming here every day.
Everyone did an excellent job....

I'm glad that I was able to participate in it. It reall rekindled my love for the hobby.

Careful Joe,
Once you try it, you can't build just one!

Well, we had 28 enlistees actually complete the Campaign (unless I missed someone). Not bad I hear for our first sub campaign. I would have liked to get you all your awards sooner, but I had no choice but to go out of town this past week, even though it was for pleasure. It seems I'm always switching my schedule around these days.
Anyway, it was great fun guys and I really appreciate all of you who helped make leading the DDD campaign so enjoyable. Maybe I'll lead another someday when there aren't so many in the works and I can come up with something really unique. Until then, I have three others I get to participate in...Medic! is next for me...then Dreadnoughts and Garry's Flattop Campaign....later guys...thanks again!!!!!

Wouldn't that be cool? It could be a "Fish" theme. Build only subs named after a fish??????

Well, I will say I did have a great deal of fun with my subs. I also enjoyed sharing it all with you wonderful folks. If it weren't for this campaign I wouldn't have had the pleasure of meeting a great bunch of guys.
The subs everyone did are fantastic. It is a real tribute to Garry that so many people completed a warship campaign.
Darryl did a fantastic job as our leader and I would follow him again!
Skipper you were great with all the help you gave us all. I for one will be knocking at your cyber door the next time I build a sub. Funny thing the pile of subs has grown.
Steven you were an inspiration too. Everyone was so supportive I can't wait for Dreadnoughts.
Oh yeah and count me in on DDD2. I have plenty of subs to work with now LOL.

Might be "cheating" but I still have the OTHER Improved Los Angeles Class in the box that I plan on doing anyway, so if a "repeat" build isn't too tacky, I'm game! (But only after Dreadnaught's done!!)

I wouldn't think that a repeat would be too tacky. In fact, I've toyed with getting another Lionfish and converting it to a Balao.....so why not another 688!?

I haven't been following this thread after the first couple of posts but I second the motion that everybody should be congratulated. I think this was one of the best ran, friendliest, and most fun campaigns done so far. All the folks at the Big A should see this as a way to do a campaign.

As much fun as I had building the revell U-boot for this campaign, I figure to have twice that much fun building the Bismarck for the Dreadnaughts. I have been putting together material for that babe for almost a year now. Kit 2 PE's and gigantic posters to act as painting guides...even bigger that the 350 scale kit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a fun build, even with the "issues" on my Type XXI. I think the next sub will be a Type VIIB or C or maybe a Gato. That'll probably be this next winter, I got a "Winggy Thinggie" and a Flower Class Corvette to do first. Cheers!!!!!!!
