That was my complaint Skipper. The campaign was listed from January until the end of MAY. Starting in late March and running at least 6 months would make a big difference. They also have the starting date on the Leyte campaign as 1 Jne and I thought we weren't going to start until July or August on that one. There are 3 I want to do in the Jan to end of May with the carrier, Patton tank, and the sub. NO way I can squeeze that out without going hyper and then it would be like work rather than the joy of building. Later is easier as the June to Dec they have my MEOW and the Leyte. I can knock out a good Tiger in two months and that will still give me ample time to do a Leyte ship.

Hi Darryl
This was on my campaign proposal:
[i]So, as a summary and for everybody interested:
"Dive! Dive! Dive! 2" Campaign
Scale: Any
Start Date: March 25th 2006*
End Date: March 25th 2007*
* Garry Beebe's passing away aniversary
Thanks Skipper...looks like I'll be pulling out the Type VII then. Gotta look up all the old links from those who built it during DDD1, find a PE set, and an after-market gun, propeller, etc. Should be fun!!!!

Hmmm, I might have to sign up for this one too.. I ended up with a USS Lionfish in my stash.. I know its a pretty poor kit, but it will give me an excuse to build it..

Hi Dave
Welcome aboard
Actually I find Lionfish not to bad - for the age.
If you correct the flood holes and get (or scratchbuilt) a new sail, and on the guns it makes a pretty decent Gato/Balao model
Of course the soon to be released 1/72 Monster Gato from Revell (again) it will smash and dwarf this oldie - but honour must be taken to it, for ages it was the only Gato model around

Well, with the year, then I know I'll be able to finish the Gato, when she gets released. I just don't know where I'll put her when she's finished......
OH yeah, I'll donate her to the Ling...... :-) :-)

Hi Dave
Yes I think you got the time to built it!
And the USS Ling museum would be delighted to have a Midget Ling aboard
Good idea!!!

Hey guys,
I've been keeping up with post here and I've floated an idea to move the dates of Leyte Gulf around so that we salty dogs won't be so water-logged with kits to build in 2006. I proposed having Leyte run from Sept. 1, 2006 to Oct. 25, 2007. That way we can move from one campaign to another with no problem.
(If you look at the Leyte dates, you'll see that Halsey launched his first raids in Sept and destroyed the northern force in Oct.)
Just making sure everyone has fun.

Absolutly wonderful guys. With both campaigns readjusted I should be able to easily participate in all. And yea Skipper I felt the same way about this campaign which is why I hollered. I didn't realize you had not seen what had been done to the planned time frame. I miss him too, but I think you and Steve have done a magnificent job is keeping this division of Armorama thriving.......even if you are a "Pigboater" :-)

Hi Chief - Glad to have you aboard again - everyboat needs a excellent Chief
As for your choices:
Sea Wolf - although it's in the stash, I heard that the hull joints are terrible
Revell VII-C - can't say bad things about it
Mini Hobby u-boats - if they are the reboxed Nichimo 1/200 u-boats they are good
Nichimo I-19 is an xcellent model considering that it has more than 30 years old

Chief,
I'd say go big and do the Type VII C...I'm searching for detail sets, etc. for mine now, just so I'm ready when March hits.
My last two college classes will interfere the first month of the campaign, but after that I'll be done with college and have much more time to build...I'll need a year to do my Type VII C justice...
I'm gonna start by sorting through & printing out most of the posts from DDD1 by those who built the Type VII C, then I have to track down the Big "A" member who made the brass detail parts specifically for this kit to see if he still has anything available.
Just my .02...I'm just glad to have your expertise along with us.
