I would love to participate but....I am project manager of the MEOW campaign and The date on this one got moved up from end of July to June 1 which is when my Meowcampaign starts. I am sure that I'll get my Tiger done in time to squeeze in that Musashi, but I won't enlist unless I am sure. Oh if there are a few of you out there that still build tanks, check out my MEOW campaign.......any AFV with the name of a cat. Any scale and any era, wheeled or tracked.

Ok guys....found my topic. Going to build the USS Sabine, a fleet oiler. Using the 1/400 Revell T-3 tanker kit and the 5" mounts off of the Tamiya Fletcher.

Hi all, when is this campaign beginning? If it's in the second half of 2006 then I'm going to build Tamiya's 1:700 IJS Yamato Special package. First half of 2006 I'll be involved in the Flattops campaign and I'd also like to build something non campaign related before beggining another one (I just ordered WEM's 1:700 HMS Warspite mmmmm resin)

It's official! Leyte gulf will run from Sept 1, 2006 to October 25, 2007. The scale is 1/32 to 1/1200.

Remember, part of the Battle of Leyte Gulf was the landings! So that includes....
LCVP
LCM3
LST
Liberty Ships
Attack Transports

Also at Leyte were.....
PT boats
US Subs
T-3 Tankers (Fleet oilers)

Here's where we can look forward to seeing that 1/72 Gato (if it's not in in time for DDD2) and Dragon's new Pennsylvania.

Can't wait to get going!

I was worried I wouldn't be able to fit this in with Dreadnaughts, Flattops and DDD2, but with an ending date in Oct. 2007, I'm sure I can fit this campaign in also. Just have to figure out what to build.

Hi all, a small correction to my stated intention. I will in fact be building Tamiya's 1:350 IJS Yamato (recently re-released?) with Eduards PE set. I can't wait! It's my first large scale kit but already I have bought another one. This morning I received Tamiya's 1:350 King George V and associated WEM PE set from WEM! Somebody stop me!!!!

Did someone say submarines?

Actually, I think I'd like to take a run at a PT boat, so count me in.

Hi Kenny,

Just been reading a book called Task Force 57 the British Pacific Fleet and it appears that during the Leyte Campaign, TF57 made diversionary attacks and also attacked airfields to slow/stop the reinforcement of Leyte from other areas.
So what I'm asking is can I make a ship from TF57 during the Leyte time frame.

Your call.

Ciao

Just signed on. Given the time frame given for the completion, I might attempt one of the Japanese carriers, possibly the Junyo. I've got plenty of time to decide.

I'm trying to cut down on the number of campaigns I sign up for. This is NOT because I don't think they are a great idea, I really do. I just found that for myself I was signing up for every campaign that came along, then finding myself under preasure to make a deadline. If I didn't finish, which often happened, then I felt guilty. Modeling is supposed to be FUN. I will in all probability build kits for both Dive, dive, dive II, and Leyte Gulf, I just don't want to sign up until I'm pretty sure I will finish.

For now I want to finish the Yorktown for Flatops, then finish up all the half built kits I've got laying around, far too many of them, then finish up the wreck of the Bismark for Dreadnoughts, THEN think about DDD II, and Leyte Gulf.

BTW, if anybody doing Leyte Gulf hasn't read it I HIGHLY recommend Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors by James D. Hornfischer. It's one of the best written history books I've read in a long time.

Sounds like a plan...as long as they fought in the Leyte Gulf campaign, it's ok with me.

Hmmmm, I started a Skywave Callahan(?) to be the USS Johnston of Taffy 3. It was supposed to be for a Ship Model Mailing List group entry for the 1998 IPMS Nats. Maybe I can finish it by Oct of 2007!

I’ve been thinking of joining this campaign. Great excuse to build another ship.
I don’t have a kit for it yet but I should have plenty of time to get one.

I’m thinking about building one of the Japanese ships this time. It gives me a chance to build ether the Yamato or the Zuikaku. Looking around I’ve also found a waterline kit of the Suzuya that I could try putting on a base.
Just have to make up my mind.

I don’t know if you want to count them or not but the Hyuga an Hayashimo were both there.
These 2 battleships had previously been converted to a battleship/carrier after the battle of midway. They carried about 20 planes each.

Very tempted to do the Ryuho (Fujimi)and the Chiyoda (Pitroad) together in a vignette. Where these two in the same battle group (task force)?
