I was just wondering this morning how many are thinking of doing the new 1/72 Gato for DDD2?

Anyone order theirs yet? I'd planned on doing a pre-order, but never got around to it.

I would LOVE to do the Gato, but I just can't swing the space. I've no place to put the thing once I got it done. I have two ideas as to what to do with one once I did manage to display it. One would be a boat coming back from patrol. It would have a string of little Japanese flags strung from the conning tower to the bow, and a broom at the mast head signaling "clean sweep." The other one would be a "pink sub" as in Operation Petticoat.

I might still look for the ancient Silversides kit from Revell and try to do those in the smaller scale.

I have pre-ordered it at Squadron and it will be USS Pampanito - don't know for sure if it will make for DDD2

But I have to agree that the motivation is very high

Hello Steve,

Definitely a must have. I don't think I will build it for DDD2 but
will pre order as soon as the LHS starts to take orders.

I'm also curious about the upcoming Trumpeter releases in
1:144 scale ; hopefully they will do their research
and produce an accurate model.

Have a nice day,
Joe

Don't hold me to it, but I think I read somewhere that this is not due out until LATE (SEPT -OCT) of this year. I may have it mixed up with the new Type VII c (wintergarten turm) coming out
