Hey guys. Here's my 1/72 Type VII Uboat as it would have appeared in the Gulf of Mexico. The white platform will be water made with silicone caulk. I hav the Warriors bridge and gun crews. The base has a 54mm uboat captain and two 1/72 G7a torpedoes on display. Still have a little work left. Hope to have it finished by the end of the month.

Being for Louisiana, the uboat war in the Gulf of Mexico as always facinated me.

She's looking good Kenny

I also like the idea of the Torpedoes and the 54mm figure

Keep up

Thanks guys. No Steve, she's not finished. In progress. It's going to be the Louisiana, go figure. Probably get to her after I finish the uboat. Still got to work on my Sara or flattops.

Are you positive about the red hull. I think that almost all of the Kreigsmarine subs had a very dark grey underside. Red stands out like a sore thumb. Recheck your references

Hello sunhunter,

That is one fine looking boat you got there!
Anxious to see it finished.

If you will allow my imput, the lower hull of all wartime u-boats,
was dark gray (Schiffstarnfarbe dunkelgrau -31 ). It seems to
be a popular misconception that Schiffsbodenfarbes.b. i rot 22a (hull red) was involved.

My sources indicate that some pre-war boats may have been
painted hull red but that was covered over when the war broke
out.
There seems to be no actual records of red lower hulls on
u-boats that went into action.

Hope that this is of some help.
Have a nice day and happy modelling,

I was using the Squadron book as a reference. I kinda like the red hull. I don't know how much touch ups I'll have to do if I mask the hull to paint it gray. I'll try it. I may have a mess when I get finished.
