I may very well be in the minority here, but can I suggest we dispense with the horn that sounds when you go onto Model Shipwrights? I would suppose that many people like that, but I've always found things like a bit annoying. Especially since I quite often go back to the home page here to navigate where I need to, and I hear it every time.

This is such a small annoyance, I really hate to bring it up, but I just wanted to say how I felt.

Rodger,
That horn should only go off when you have un-read private messages. Do you have any?

I must admit I think I like the mail call one better. This one dang near scared the crap out of me the first few times.
I find that if I check my PMs and then hit back to return to te home page it will list that I still have new ones. Just hit refresh and it should stop aslong as you don’t have any new mail.
Am half afraid to ask but does modelgeek have its own sound?

:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) Too Cool!

I sent myself a message (how pathetic is that?) just so I could hear it. I have kids in the library at the moment and when that went off, you should have seen the heads snap around! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

I thought of yelling Dive Dive Dive at them......

Allright then, all is forgiven. Actually I did have unread emails, and didn't put two and two together. I was so used to the "mail call, listen up" from Homer Simpson I didn't realize it was basically the same thing.

Ok, you can all go back about your business, especially you Dave cleaning your monitor. Have you ever thought of installing a spray guard one that? Either that or stop practicing your spit takes. (know what those are?)

For some reason it makes me thing of the one my old HVAC teacher had for when he got email.
“Captain! We have an incoming message” in the voice of one of the star track guys.
Dang that thing one annoying considering he got so may a day.

If yous guys didn't keep popping these one liners at me, when I'm trying to drink my coffee, my monitor would never get cleaned......

I gave up the spittin', when I gave up the chew.

Dave are you talking about when you stopped using tobacco or when you lost your teeth?

Can’t be too sure with you. :-)

I agree about losing the klaxon. I'd much prefer a ship's bell as an alert.

Now see Dave, you could have sent that to me in a message and then I wouldn't have to resort to sending them to myself. :-) :-) :-)

Greetings all,

Must remember to put the sound on to hear these things!!!

Must have had it on once thought as I did get a 'mail call' which I thought was great.

Cheers

Al

I'm use to all these noises....
some how one of my naval screen savers came with a bunch. I get the diving alarm when windows collaspe, sonar pinging when they expand, fire at will at pop ups...... and the victory at sea music when starting up or shutting down. :-) :-)

This thread is just too funny. I'm glad I was't drinking anything at the time. I never heard the horn as I usually go in through the Armrama entry and have Homer shout at me. Glad for the heads up on the klaxon as it would have startled me the first few times. I vote to keep it.

That Victory at Sea one sounds like fun, but those others would drive me nuts, and as my wife would tell you that's a very short drive.
