Guys,
Gosh, I hope it's enamel, I've been using Testor's airbrush thinner to thin & clean up. Paint hasn't globbed up yet.

Good. The reason I asked, was that I use enamels and I was wondering if you were because I wanted know if the cement held up against the thinner...it would appear so.

...but if you're like me (and with the same amount of bad luck )

Pffffffttt

Are you kidding? When I bend over to pick up a penny for good luck, I get hit by a bus.

Geez Steve...I though I was the only one around here with luck like that. :-)
Maybe we should get togther. Two bad lucks should cancel each other out, right?

Hi Mark

Update

I tentatively removed the Tamiya masking tape yesterday and I am very pleased with the result. Great to try something new and it works like it should. A new trick /skill gained.

Detail painting (plane, lights, funnel etc) underway plus the deck.

Now the deck needs painting, finishing final assembly of various sub assemblies and final detailing/weathering.

Therefore I feel I am on track at this stage nothing like leaving it to the last minute LOL

Regards

My King George V now completed - managed to make a mess of the masthead radars sadly - a tad fiddly in 1/700 scale!

Kit is Tamiya 1/700 (kindly donated by Blade48mrd, thanks mate!), with WEM photo-etch and Vallejo paints, finished off with a black oil wash and some burnt sienna for the rust

Will post her to the 'Finished' gallery as well Gunny!

Rip,

Great work on KGV!

I'm not having nearly the sucess on Nellie. I got the Metal bits of the deck painted last night, but the rubber cement mask is proving to be a bit of a challenge to remove. I may have spread it too thin, the paint didn't seem to leak through, but as a try to roll little ball of glue off, they're staining the teak deck below.

I did manage to get some of the thinned white glue mask off OK, si I'm still hopefull. I did get a real nice line along the 'Scuppers" (that's the metal edge along the deck, isn't it?)

Beautiful job. It just blows my mind how tough doing these in 1/700 has to be.

Really nicely done!!

Hi Mark

Fumbled my way around and uploaded my pictures to the Campaign Gallery hopefully successfully.

To be honest its really been a while (too long) since I have had to do this.

Anyway here (hopefully) is my Fujimi Admiral Scheer 1/700. (Yahoo I got it to work) Be warned I aint the worlds best photographer.

I have to say a big thank you to Mike Durr (Blade48rmd) for kindly donating the kit. Your generosity is truly appreciated.

Also a huge thanks to the team here Mark, Rui, Rodger, Graham etc who have put up with the saga of the build.

Its my first ship ever and whilst it got destroyed by wife, refitted etc I am generally pleased with it. The deck did not turn out that well. It appears to be about technique etc. Unfortunately I had to compromise on a few parts in the refit they were just beyond repair after the damage sustained.

The positive is that its the first kit I have finished in over 18 months (if not longer) or so and I am hooked on ships (E Boats)and U-boats as a result. My modelling interest has been reignited so whilst I am far from happy about my first ship there are positives from the experience. I also learnt about a little known about but fine WW2 German Battleship and its sad demise.

This was my first campaign and it did what I wanted it to it introduced me to ships, reignited my passion and the deadline really forced me to finish something.

I am hooked on ships but to be honest I found the 1/700 scale real hard to work in. I hate to have had a go at the rigging or to do photoetch in this scale. I truly respect all those that work in it all the time. I would like to do another ship soon but maybe 1/350 scale.

Thanks again to everyone.

Ah, the smell of victory, aye, matie?!
Sean, I'm glad that you had the perserverance to continue with the build after your better half did a little damage to it, my friend...looks great, Sean, welcome back to the hobby, and to the salty side of modeling! Keep building, and ask lots of questions here at MSW...(we love to talk! ) Thanks for the entry, Sean!
