Some time back, I recall someone posting some information on the proposed "super-battleship" What was the name of that project and does anyone have a link to a site that goes into some detail regarding it?

Thanks guys.

After I started looking I realized what I was looking for was the DD( X) program. However, the Montana class information was enlightening as well.

As a marginally related sidenote, did anyone happen to catch the article about DoD wanting take some of the Ohio class boats and converting their Trident's warheads over to conventional?

I thought that several had already undergone this change.

I have an old book called "the Complete Encyclopedia of Battleships: 1860 to the Present" by Tony Gibbons. It has absolutl wonderful paintings and line drawings of hundreds of ships. One thing that I have always found interesting is that it also included ships that were proposed but never built. Super Yamato, Bismarck and Iowas.

The four oldest Ohio class submarines are being converted to SSGN Tomahawk platforms .

As for conventional armed Trident ICBMs, its as politically impractical. As its impossible to tell what type of warhead its carrying in flight and its final destination at launch. The response to this action mite be nuclear war.
