Hey guys got emails today. Got A's in both my classes. That gives me a final GPA of 3.81. They were taught at a law school level. It looks like I screwed up 30 years ago by not going into Law School. Now the hard part begins....trying to find a job without legal experiece.

Congratulations on your graduation (and not too shabby a GPA either)
Is there a number we should call when we get into trouble and need legal advice/aid?

Now the fun begins,
Cheers,
Charles

It is against the law for me to give legal advice, I get to do all those neat things like fill out the legal forms for the attorneys to sign, tell them when to go to court, conduct screening interviews and do suppositions. All the cool stuff like going to court and stuff you see on TV is done by attorneys. Now here is a kick, every state except California will not admit a person to the BAR unless they have graduated from an acredited Law school and pass that state's BAR exam. California says you just have to pass the bar, Gives one pause doesn't it?

Congratulations, my ex-wife is a para-legal.
Hopefully you'll end up in a law firm that practices an area of law you are interested in. Otherwise according to her, it can be extremely boring. She went through several law firms before she found one she liked.

My first degree was in History...I had planned an Army career, but found I hated it after I got in. I loved the going out in the field and stuff, it was the day to day activites that bored me and the after hours requrements that ticked me off. You could never ever forget rank and were required to join this and participate in that. So I went off active duty. I was in a great Reserve unit for 10 years until I got promoted so far and when I moved, due to my rank, I couldn't find a new unit. Now right after I left active duty, I went to U Alabama and earned one of their kick-butt Business degrees (Best in the southeast US). So I worked in distribution management for 14 years. Got hit with layoffs, then as companies further tightened belts got caught up in the hire you for 90 day game 4 or 5 times. Age and not speaking spanish (IN my own country!!!???) became an issue so I said the heck with it. I found out i really love the law and have an aptittude for it.

LIke I said, I am not allowed to give legal advice, I may know what you should do , I just can't tell you you should do it. Also each state has their own statutes, I know Texas law, not New Jersey or Louisiana (Very few do ha-ha). So I am on my third career changs with the realization that I should have made this switch decades ago.

Way to go Steve! Maybe you should have moved across to the other side of the hill after you graduated. I hear they have a decent law school over there!

Funny about the law school thing. Passing the bar used to be the only requirement in every state if I'm not mistaken. It was the norm for many people to become lawyer's that way, including a guy from Illinois by the name of Lincoln.

The way I see it, if you can pass the bar, you should be able to practice law. Having to go to a school and get a degree is a racket perpetuated by the education "establishment" in my opinion. These days, they've made it so you can't do ANYTHING without formal credentials.

Hey Stevo!

1st - VMI 20, Davidson 19.

2nd - WTG! I applaude you going back to school. Good for you. I remember when my Mom got her paralegal associate degree. I know that it's hard work.

3rd - When you graduated, did they give you your jump wings? :-) :-)

(I know, corny joke. But hey, it's my standard since my mom became one.)

We hardly beat ANYONE during my cadetship. We were 3-39 over the 4 years, with one win each in Rat, 3rd (I think) and 1st Class years.

I never understood why a legitimate Division I type football player wouldn't have wanted to attend an all male military college during the height of the Viet Nam war

Congratulations Steve!

Just what the world needs, another lawyer.

Seriously, congratulations. You've obviously earned it.
