Ahoy Shipmates! John F. Kennedy's now famous PT-109 is available in all new tooling from Italeri!
MRC has announced a newly tooled release in the form of a 1/35 PT-109. If you think you've had the ultimate experience in building one of these famous craft, you may be in for a surprise.

1/35 PT-109 Motor Torpedo Boat
555613

The legendary PT-109 Motor Torpedo Boat (#555613) commanded by John F. Kennedy in 1943. Working from the original ELCO drawings, Italeri created about 300 pieces, plus photo-etched parts to recreate the 80’ U.S. Navy Patrol boat in 1/35 scale. The one-piece hull is over 27” long.

This remarkable reproduction is crammed with superb detailing. For instance, the four torpedo tubes, Oerlikon 20mm cannon, four .50 caliber machine guns and two depth charges are spot on. Even the transom mounted smoke generator has been perfectly replicated. You can tell the history has been well
researched, as the kit even includes the 37mm anti-tank gun that the crew lashed to the bridge the day before its last mission.

The model includes a Photo Reference Manual filled with some little known historical facts, original photographs and drawings.

It may have just changed. I am assuming you are planning on buying /or have the 35th PT 109 kit. I have the 596 . I dont want to use the roll off torpedoes. So I will swap you torps and mounts ( and all that goes with it as wll as copy that section of the directions for assembly) for the tubes/torps/directions that go with the 109 kit. I have a set of the 32nd Lindberg tubes, but figure the Italerie will be closer to scale and better detailed.

Very nice indeed, but what's up with $189.00??? I paid €85,- for the Vosper in my local shop the day it hit the shelf....very interesting rate, time to buy some dollars I guess. Speaking of Vospers, I could really do with a crew (or 2) Harald

Hey Steve, Very good. I will be P/U the kit as soon as it's released, been looking for a pre-order but haven't found one yet. Will swap out with you (parts and instructions)as soon as I can get my scared up grubby hands on it. Looks like it will be some time around Xmass for the release, maybe abit earlier. Appriciate it very much. You have taken care of the #2 big problem. Hey Luciano, Thanks for that. Kinda figured that when I was checking out the sit but wasn't 100% sure till now. But thanks to Steve I don't have to worry about it now. Hey Al, thanks for the line drawings. Will enlarge them and see if I can do something with them. If it's too difficult to do, at least I have the print to do a partial above the water shot to hell and back. Thanks.
