Following the SSN-593 and SSN-637 is the new SSN-585!

Only a little over a year has gone buy since we were presented with Micro-Mir's 1/350 SSN-593 Thresher and SSN-637 Sturgeon nuclear submarine kits. We can now look forward to seeing their 1/350 SSN-585 Skipjack joining the fleet within a month from this announcement!

For those not aware of the Skipjack's relevance in naval history, she is widely regarded as pinnacle of modern nuclear sub design. SSN-585 was a revolutionary new design based on extensive research in submarine design and theory, and she effectively created the pattern for all nuclear submarines in the Western world to follow and build upon afterwards. During her career in the 1960's and 1970's she and her crew set many new records, both publicized and secret, and successfully played in the notorious high-tension hide and seek games of the Cold War. She continued service for nearly 40 years before being decommissioned in the late 1990's, providing a wealth of knowledge to the USN during her long life.
