A relatively unknown boat, the Project 673 SSN was designed in 1960 as a small and fast SSN. To maximize speed, the sail was removed and because of the lack of a sail, this submarine could have been the most maneuverable submarine ever built. Micro-Mir has now released their kit of this Soviet era 'X' boat.

The Project 1710 'Mackerel' submarine (known by the NATO reporting name "Beluga") was a Russian SSA diesel-electric submarine. It was an experimental vessel used for testing propulsion systems, hull forms and control systems. Now Micro-Mir offers a 1/350 kit of this test boat.

I missed this one that was released last month, a K-Class(K Type on the box cover) British submarine. They were built from 1916 to 1923 and were to be large, fast vessels with the endurance and speed to operate with the battle fleet.

This kit was released earlier this spring but I wanted to make mention of it here. A Cold War midget submarine from the Soviet Union, the Project 907 was an SDV -Swimmer Delivery Vehicle in US designation, SMPL - Sverkhmalaya Podvodnavy Lodka (Super Small Submarines) in Russian. It was developed in the late 60's-early 70's.
