Micro-Mir has released a kit of America's first 'boomer' submarine class to join their current fleet of 1/350 boats.
The George Washington class was the first ballistic missile submarines deployed by the United States Navy. They were essentially Skipjacks with a 130 foot (40 m) missile compartment, inserted between the ship's control/navigation areas and the nuclear reactor compartment. In the case of the lead ship, USS George Washington (SSBN-598), that was literally the case: the keel already laid by Electric Boat at Groton, Connecticut for Scorpion was cut apart and extended to become the keel for George Washington. 5 boats were made, with the first launched in 1959 and the last served until 1986.

Micro-Mir's kit (No. 350-17) is much like their previous kits, mostly resin with some PE details.

This kit is currently available at retailers who carry Micro-Mir products such as Hobby Terra which lists this kit for $20.00 plus shipping.
