The newest boat from Micro-Mir in 1/350 is the Lafayette class nuclear ballistic missile submarine (SSBN). The Lafayette class was an evolutionary development from the Ethan Allen class of SSBNs, slightly larger and generally improved.
This class, together with the George Washington, Ethan Allen, James Madison, and Benjamin Franklin classes, comprised the "41 for Freedom" that were the Navy's main contribution to the nuclear deterrent force through the late 1980s. They were decommissioned between 1986 and 1992, due to a combination of SALT II treaty limitations as the Ohio class SSBNs entered service, age, and the collapse of the Soviet Union and were completely replaced by the newer Ohio class SSBNs.
This kit (No 350-22) is comprised of injected plastic moldings with clear parts, a small PE fret for propeller and sail paneling and decals.
No release date has or price has been given yet. Hannants has a page lsiting for this kit but only for adding it member wish lists. We'll update this posting as a date and price become available.
