RCSubs has new photo etch offerings for the Revell Type VIIC and VIIC/41 U-Boat kits (Nos.5015 and 5045). There's even a set for a VIID conversion.
The type VII's were the workhorses for the Kriegsmarine during the Second World War. More than 700 were built compared to the 280+ of the larger Type IXs and of the Type VIIs the 'C' model was the most numerous with more than 560 produced.
They C/41 models were designed to have greater crush depths and the 'D' models had 5 vertical launch tubes for mines aft of conning tower.
RCSubs offers PE details for the C/41 and 'D' models. D model details are meant to be used in conjunction with the Special Navy Models conversion kit (No. 72005) that extends the hull 10 scale meters and has the mine launcher housing to be added to the Revell 'C' kit.
Sets are now available and are listed at the RCSubs site as:
Item 32 - Type VIID - $116.00 (US) plus shipping.
Item 40 - Type VIIC/41 - $70.00 (US) plus shipping.
Item 50 - Type VIIC and VIIC/41 displacement hull chamber openings - $19.00 (US) plus shipping.
