A modern version of 'The Big J', America's most decorated battleship with 19 battle stars, in a limited edition release.
During World War II she served as Admiral Halsey's flag ship, shelled targets on Guam and Okinawa and acted as a screen for aircraft carriers conducting raids in the Marshall Islands. During the Korean War she did shore bombardments up and down the North's coast. She was briefly reactivated in 1968 and sent to Vietnam to support U.S. troops before returning to the mothball fleet in 1969. Reactivated once more in the 1980s as part of the 600-ship Navy program, New Jersey was modernized to carry missiles and recommissioned for service. She was decommissioned for the final time in February 1991 and is now a museum ship in Camden New Jersey -across the river from America's oldest surviving armored warship ship, the USS Olympia.
The kit (No. 80-5129) is comprised of 1,375 parts that features photo-etched parts, metal gun barrels, wooden decking, 1982 armament, missile launchers and guns, Sikorsky SH-60B Sea Hawk helicopters, and decals.
