This month Fujimi is releasing 3 full hull kits of the Imperial Japanese aircraft carriers, Hiryu, Soryu and Akagi. I made some tweaks to the original posting due to previous translation issues with the Fujimi site description of the kits.
All 3 ships took part in the Hawaiian raid on December 7, 1941 and they all met their fate with US Navy Dauntless dive bombers at the Battle of Midway, June 1942. Both Hiryu and Soryu (sister class ships) were purpose built carriers, launched in 1937 and 1939 -10 years after the Akagi, a mid-construction conversion from a cruiser to carrier.
The Akagi (No FHSP12) is molded with clear parts to allow a view to her internal structure. At the time of this writing, it does not appear that any internal structure parts are included but Fujimi may offer a separate detail set for this. As we get more details we'll post them here.
Soryu and Hiryu (Nos. FHSP14 and FHSP13, receptively) both include a compliment of 36 aircraft.
Soryu and Hiryu are scheduled for a February 25th release and are priced each at ¥4,104 ($39.00 USD) at the Fujimi site. The Akagi is scheduled for February 23rd and is listed for ¥3,888 ($33.00 USD). All three can be pre-ordered at Fujimi site.
