This month, Revell is releasing a kit of Imperial Russia's first 'Dreadnought' type battleship.
The Gangut-class battleships (also known as the Sevastopol class), were the first dreadnoughts for the Imperial Russian Navy. Four ships were ordered in 1909 -two were named after victorious battles of Peter the Great in the Great Northern War and the other two were named after battles in the Crimean War. They were delivered from December 1914 through January 1915. Their role was to defend the mouth of the Gulf of Finland against the Germans, who never tried to enter, so the ships spent their time training and providing cover for minelaying operations. Their crews participated in the general mutiny of the Baltic Fleet after the February Revolution in 1917, and joined the Bolsheviks the following year.

There's speculation that this kit (No. 05137) is from the Zvezda molds of their Sevastopol kit (No, ZVE9040). Listed features for the Revell kit are:

- Detailed hull with fittings
- Can optionally be built as a waterline model
- Structured main deck
- Detailed deck superstructures
- 12 x 305 mm L/52 Naval guns
- 16 x 120 mm L/50 Naval Guns
- Detailed bridge
- Lifeboats
- Two masts
- Authentic drive and ruder units
- Display stand
- Authentic decal set for the Gangut, Russian Imperial Navy, 1912
- 432 Parts

This kit is currently available for pre-order by Hannants for £49.99 ($77.05 USD) plus shipping.
