A must for any fan of the American TV series 'McHale's Navy' or anyone with the old Revell PT-73 kit, a diorama of the homeport of McHale and his crew. Ensign Parker not included.
The series revolved around Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale's and his crew's wacky schemes to make money, get girls and have a ball, and the efforts of Captain Binghamton (McHale's superior) to rid himself of the PT-73 crew for good...either by transfer or court martial. Although they are forever getting into trouble they (almost always unwittingly) get out of trouble. Despite their scheming, conniving, often lazy and unmilitary ways, McHale's crew are always successful in combat in the end. The series ran on American television from 1962 to 1966 with 138 episodes (and two theatrical movies).

Ocean base, utility boats, buildings, structurues, palm trees, a PBY and, of course, PT-boats are included to replicate the island base of Taratupa. And to be true to the series, which used an American built Vosper PT-boat for McHale's PT-73, the dioramas boats also appear to be Vosper's. Not historically accurate, but neither was 'McHale's Navy'.

Free Time Hobbies has the kit (No LCM0119) available for $75.00 (US), plus shipping and handeling.

Actually, the boats are 77' Elco's. Not correct for the series but more correct for an early war USN dio. Al

I love it! I want it! The castings and foliage look good to me; the lagoon has potential beyond PTs.
