RC Sub, a maker of outstanding PE details for the 1/72 Revell U-Boat kits, is looking to add new product to his line. This would be a conversion kit for the Revell Type IXC U-505 kit (No 05114) to make it into a Type IXC40 (U-534 style) boat.
Type IXC/40 boats were improvements done to the Type IXC with slightly increased range and surfaced speed. 87 Type IXC 40 boats were built during the war. The remains of U-534 are on display at Woodside Ferry Terminal, Birkenhead, Germany.

Changes to the Revell kit to make it resemble the U-534 would include moving the snorkel aft on the deck and some railing and deck structural changes as well as the placement of hatches.

Ota at RC Subs is still researching for the this kit that he'd like to come out with this year. If you'd be interested in this conversion, contact RC Subs at [email protected] to signal your interest and thoughts what you'd like to see in the kit.

Isn't Revell bringing out a Type IXC/40?

Hi Bill. Revell Kit: 5133 represents the IXC/40 with the cut back hull as seen on U 190. This conversion is to specifically convert their previous release and do the U 534 which did not have the cut back hull but a full hull. Cheers, Joe
